The steelhead lately have been hard to find and target because
of the high, dirty, and cold water. But we are still picking at
a few here and there. Right now the release at the dam is 1200 cfs
with about 400-500 cfs of run off. The holes up top have been most
productive with having the most clarity. The further down the river
you get the more little streams run in and add color to the water
making the fishing tougher. Latley the beads and eggsacks have been
the weapon of choice and the most successful in targeting steelhead.
The weather has been mainly cold and snowy with a few days above
freezing and rainy leading to a lot of run off.
You better call now if you want a trip because when the water drops
its going to be on fire and you wont wanna miss it Call now (315)

The run is coming to close and the steelhead are now upon us. They
arent quite everywhere in the river but everday is different with
some certain spots being more productive than others. Plugging or
float fishing seems to both be equally effective as for targeting
steelhead. There are definitly a few big 10-15lbs steelhead in the
mix with your adverage 5-10lbs steelhead. We have also been having
some brutal weather with snowy/rainy/windy mix most days, so as
a result the heaters are back in the driftboats to help to try and
keep warm. All the precipitation has created a lot of run off and
filled the resivors so the flow changes pretty much weekly which
could have a major impact on the fishing. All in all you just got
book a trip and watch the forecast or hope the weather conditions
are going to be okay. The days are filling up quickly and we are
booked up for pretty much the rest of novemeber. But there are still
a few days left in the month that are open or you can risk the snow
and cold and book one from now to the beginning of may.
But any ways call ASAP (315)-298-4530Thanks Shane and David

The run is here! The river is loaded with both fish and fishermen.
The week days have been quieter than the weekends but still alot
of people around. Their has been mainly kings with a mix of cohos
and a occaisonaly a steelhead or I have even heard of reports of
some browns and atlantics being caught in the mix down river. The
estuary is stacked with fish waiting to move up and the lake still
has a few trickling in as our lake season was amazing but is quickly
wrapping up. As fall has just begun the leaves are starting to change
and fall off the trees, the forecast looks perfect for more fish
to go up the river. Temperatures are supposed to stay around 40's
at night and 60's during the day along with some rain in the forecast
for the next 2 days. Hopefully we get enough rain to fill the creeks
up so they get loaded with fish and even some of the people out.
Book a trip on the river for salmon asap before they are gone because
the dates are going quick.
Late october we will begin our steelhead trips on the river so if
you have a date in mind call now before its gone.
Thanks Shane and David.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been very very good! I dare
say the best I’ve seen in 30 years of living and fishing the
east end of Lake Ontario.
It’s early and it’s hard to say how the rest of the
summer will go but typically it only gets better and better. The
brown trout and lake trout are also biting well. Charters going
out of the Salmon River have been fishing 6-10 miles out in 150-200
foot of water using the usual spoons and fly combos.
There’s not much left to say but get ur trips booked ASAP-

As the steel head drop back out of the river other seasons start
to come into play. Walleye fishing has been on fire lately with
tons of big fish around and its only getting better. We have just
put the charter boat in the water and dialed the kings right in
on our first trip for the new season. We have a bunch of charters
for kings during the summer still open as well as walleye trips
at night. So call now before there gone because you dont want to
miss out on some bigfish and lots of action

The steelhead are here and are piling up more and more everyday.
Anyday now it's going to be on fire with fresh dime bright chromers.
This is the best time to book a trip if you plan on eating steelhead
or just want an intense battle. We are also catching fish on every
method possible to us. Plugging is easiest and has been most effective
with the high water we have been having, but as the water drops
float bite will be fire after a couple of colder nights and as soon
as the fish start to over into their slow deep spots. But for now
these fish are in the faster water and are harder to target. Give
us a call to get in on the action at 315-430-6728.

Just like that we are on the decline of our salmon run. We never
really had one big run, but a slow steady trickle of kings and a
good amount of cohos. We currently are being impacted with a good
storm producing a reasonable amount of rain which should bring in
a few fresher kings along with hopefully our first good push of
steelhead. This year has been pretty odd so who truly knows? From
now until about the middle-end of next month the kings will be doing
their thing and slowly die off and as this happens more and more
steelhead will enter the river. As a matter of fact theres already
a good amount of steelhead in the lower/douglaston part of the river.
With this rain happening it should help get these fish moving upstream
and spread them out throught the entire river. Call quick because
somewhere in between now and the next 2 months will be some of the
best fighting, eating, and hopefully amount of steelhead for the
season. Texting works best at 315-430-6728.

The salmon fishing on lake ontario is on fire right now and is
going to stay that way for the next hopefully, atleast the next
three weeks. Lately we have been pulling in mixed bags of primarily
kings and cohos. The cohos meat is better than the kings because
they are showing up from the deeper depths and some are still feeding.
But they dont fight as hard as most of the kings because of their
size. Besides the lake the salmon river is starting to fill up with
kings. The major deeper holes right now have lots of salmon in them
as the fish wait for colder nights and slightly higher water levels.
Theres also fish in between thses holes in certain pockets and riffles
but not many becuase of the warmer water temps. The next series
of cold nights and rain should in theory bring home the mother load.
We shall see though as for every season being differnt. Texting
works the best as for we are very busy and do not have often to
sit around and talk on the phone. So please texts us at 315-430-6728.
Thanks Shane and David

The salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been a little on the slow
side as the kings switch from their feeding mode to their stagging
up for the run mode and that time is slowly wrapping up. The fishing
is going to be the best it has been all season for the next month
or so as the kings keep piling up in front of the Salmon River.
The sooner you can book a trip for meat the better because as the
kings go deeper into their spawning mode their meat becomes more
soft and not as good to eat. But on the flip side of this they are
a blast and put up an incredible fight. To book a trip the easiest
text 315-430-6728.

When is the best time for king salmon on the eastern end of lake
ontario many may ask? The Answer is now!! The salmon have been showing
up and condtioins are becoming better and better each day (excluding
the weather factor). Our last couple of trips have been excellent
with our latest trip bringing 9 kings by 9:30am with a 6:00am start.
These kings have been mainly above adverage for this time of year
with many fish from 15-25 pound range. They are also dime bright
and are on the feed so there meat is still very fresh and tastey.
The lake trout and browns are still fishable but are harder to dial
in and setup a program for because everyone is king salmon fishing.
Texting works best to contact us at (315)-430-6728. Contact us ASAP
to book a trip before our dates go because they are filling quickly!
Thanks Shane and David

Right now we are having a package deal for 2 days fishing, salmon
and/or trout charters, and 3 nights lodging just call and ask about
it. Lately the kings seem to be showing up more and more each day
with good conditions. Soon it will be on fire and you wont want
to miss out. We have lots of dates open still for the spring and
summer so call now (315)-298-4530 or text us at (315)-430-6728.

Everything seems to want to be biting right now. Fishing for brown
trout we have been catching them anywhere from 2-12 pounds along
with a couple decent sized lake trout. King Salmon are also scattered
around with about 1 hook up each trip. The drop backs have finally
left the river and are out in the lake. Walleye has been decent
with each and every day getting better. We have also been catching
4-5 pound small mouth everywhere that we go. Soon the kings will
start to congergate out deeper on bait schools and we will be targeting
them primarily. Until they do brown trout close to shore are our
main focus. We had a trip last week were we caught bigger brown
trout, decent sized walleye, a smallmouth, a lake trout, a pike
and lost a few of each. That afternoon we procceded to catch more
bigger sized brown trout and a couple very nice kings. The weather
is starting to look better so call now while the fishing is hot

The fishing lately has been on fire for dropbacks. The water levels
are currently dropping and that should make the fishing even better.
Some fish are spawning on spawn beds, while others are leaving the
hatchery and heading back for the lake. These fish are looking to
feed on anything in there way as they have been in the hatchery
starving. The brown trout on the lake has also been on fire with
some of the best eating fish around. Also on trips for brown trout
there have been an occasional salmon caught along with steelhead
and atlantics. The charter boat is being put in the water as soon
as possible. But for now the driftboat has been getting it done.
The first saturday in may is opening day for walleye so book now
before the dates are gone. Call now (315)-298-4530

We keep fishing and the hits keep coming. Lately its been decent
action with decent results. Nothing to complain about when its consistent
fishing in march and the conditions keep changing. Theres fresh
fish trickling in day after day, and some are starting to spawn
and we are occasionally getting some post spawn steelies. The flow
right now is 750 CFS at the gauge and 1100 CFS at pineville. The
temperatures are looking warm for the day and back below freezing
for the night.

Steelhead fishing on the salmon river has been decent the last
few weeks. Covering lots of water has significantly imporoved our
results lately. Water levels on the Salmon river are at 350 cfs
but will gradually be increasing the next few weeks as as spring
arrives and the temperatures increase. There are steelhead all through
out the river but most of them are up in the top end. These fish
are colored up and are highly pressured. Mid-river and down is where
there are more chrome fresh fish that are more likely to bite. Beads,
egg sacks and pink worms have all been doing equally well. We also
have been plugging on tough days and have been landing some true
monsters! We have plenty of open dates for March and April but they
are filling up fast. Lake Ontario charter trips are going to be
starting soon and we're currently taking reservations for King Salmon,
Brown Trout, and Lake Trout trips as well. Call now (315) 298-4530

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been good the last few
days - water levels have dropped and we are finding plenty of fresh
fish, spawning fish and drop back post spawn steelies all through
out the river. Brown Trout are being caught along the shore of Lake
Ontario off the river mouths on a consistent basis. Both occasions
we made it out to Lake Ontario we have had good luck. We have plenty
of openings for April and May Steelhead, Brown Trout and Walleye
trips off the drift boat. We will be running lake charters starting
early May for Browns and Lake Trout. Typically by the end of June,
Lake Ontario will start giving up her monster King Salmon. As the
waters warm up the temps increase and the salmons metabolism jumps
into high gear - these fish are feeding machines and feed heavily
all summer before making their way to the Salmon River to spawn.
Get a lake charter and get in on the screaming drag action with
us.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent the last
week. Overall for the season it’s been very good compared
to the last few years. Of course with better fishing the crowds
are back and it’s not always easy to get on the fish with
all the fishermen around.
We have plenty of open dates for March and April if your looking
for trip with us.
November 4, 2016
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been tough! Salmon numbers
have dwindled over the last week or so, not many steelheads coming
in to pick up the slack.
We're getting a few and losing a few more each trip but it's been
a grind. On the bright side pressure from other anglers has been
down. We still have drift boat guides available through out the
fall, winter and spring for steelhead fishing. The last few seasons
December and January were the hot months??
September 9, 2016
Salmon fishing one Lake Ontario has been very good the last few
days. After a month of just so so fishing it's finally broke open.
Lots of feisty king salmon stacking up just a few miles off the
Salmon River mouth. A few are even starting to make there way up
the river.
Water levels on the Salmon River have been increased to 335cfs.
Water temps are still very warm and I wouldn't expect much in the
river for a few more weeks. We still have plenty of open dates for
lake trips and river trips. Lots of opens dates for cabin rentals
if you need lodging.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario is heating up.
More and more king salmon are showing up on the eastern end of Lake
Ontario. Lake Ontario charters operating out of the Salmon River
and Mexico Bay areas are trolling deeper waters off Sandy Pond in
130-200 feet of water catching decent size and numbers of King salmon.
The up coming river season looks good for Salmon River anglers.
We still have plenty of prime dates available for summer charters
and fall drift boat fishing trips for salmon on the Salmon River
and Lake Ontario. We offer 2 day fishing and 3 night lodging package
deals that are hard to beat.

July 1, 2016
King salmon are starting to show up on the eastern end of Lake
Ontario! Lake Ontario charter boats fishing of the Salmon River
are catching a variety of species. Most charters are targeting lake
trout first thing in the morning and once there's a few fish in
the box we been switching over to king salmon, brown trout and steelheads.
The lake trout have been hiding in deeper water just off the bottom
in 140-150 feet of water and hitting cow bell spinner rigs. Steelheads
and brown are hanging a bit higher in the top 100 fow, hitting spoons
off the down riggers and dipsy divers. Kings are right in the middle
around 100' down over 120-160fow, hitting flasher fly combos and
spoons off coppers, divers and riggers. So far reports have been
very promising from most ports around Lake Ontario. We have great
2 day fishing and lodging packages this summer. Get your dates booked
and have fun while saving money! Our rates are already the most
reasonable around and with the package deals we can save you even
more all the while providing you with an excellent fishing trip.

Walleye season on Lake Ontario opened up with a bang! First 3
hours we limited out with big trophy walleyes. After a few weeks
the bite has remained steady for harbors and bays along the Lake
Ontario shoreline.
The last few trips we had some great action on brown trout as well.
Speaking of brown trout we also have had decent action fishing then
during the day off the Salmon River on the charter boats. Lake trout
fishing out deeper has been great. Plenty of 30+ lake trout coming
to the net each trip out. Even King salmon reports have been encouraging
just a bit west of us. Things are looking great for the 2016 Lake
Ontario charter season.
We are offering 2 day package deals this season wi the lodging included.
Give us a call and we can set you up!
April 28, 2016
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been good lately. There's
still plenty of drop back(post spawn) steelheads dropping back out
of the Salmon River. We still have a few weeks left before the fish
are gone. Dates for drift boat fishing and lodging in our cabins
are available.
Brown trout fishing along the Lake Ontario shoreline has really
good this season. There's been some pretty decent size trout bein
taken by charters fishing the shallow waters of Lake Ontario. This
should stay decent for the next few months.
Walleye season is coming up!
The bay's around Lake Ontario have been warming up quickly. The
walleyes have been done spawning and will be hungry earlier this
season then normal. May and June are prime walleye months on Lake
Ontario and Oneida Lake. Last season was a banner year for walleyes.
We had an excellent season over all, many limit catches were taken.
The pressure was light and I expect another good take for walleye
anglers.
We have great package deals for 2 days fishing and lodging for Lake
Ontario trout/salmon charters as well as May/June walleye trips.

Steelhead action on the Salmon River has improver drastically
over the last week. Fresh steelheads have been moving through the
lower river on a daily basis lately. After a dismal couple of months
of fishing we're hopeful this is the push we've been waiting for.
Although it's been a tough season we've been grinding out fish on
every trip and occasionally having some pretty decent days. It's
been more quality over quantity, with some very good size steelheads
coming to the net lately.
Call for package deal rates-
We have lodging now and offer great 2 days fishing and 2 night lodging

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been tough this fall.
There has been good days occasionally but more days we struggle
to catch a few. The good news is we've caught a few on just about
every trip. So there is some consistency at least. It's been 4-8
hook ups a trip most days. The water levels have been low- 335cfs
for most the season. We have plenty of open dates through out December
and the rest of winter. Our drift boats are heated!

Salmon fishing has be decent lately. There's been some small runs
of kings up the Salmon River. Of course we are still catching them
on Lake Ontario as well. The last trip we fished right in front
of the Salmon River pretty close to shore in 8-15'. Jplug and spoons
flat lined and run shall off the down riggers did the damage. There
is plenty of time left for the lake and the river should be getting
better and better everyday.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has picked up steam! More aggressive
King salmon are showing their presence. It is still not on fire
but it is improving steadily. Yesterday in 2 trips we had close
to 20 bites total landing 13 fish mostly King salmon and a few brown
trout. We're only going out a few miles to find them. Our afternoon
run was just as good as our am trip so that answers the questions
which is better am or pm? I would say right now they are equal.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been up and down lately. We
have been doing ok for a few trips and tough on others. The last
few trips kings have been around in decent numbers but they are
being stubborn - picking at a few but struggling. So we have been
catchong some nice trout to fill the void on the slow days. The
numbers of king salmon are increasing daily, their attitudes just
needs to change. We still have open afternoons and few weekday morning
trips. We also have very nice cabins for lodging with all the amenities
for a comfortable stay. Package deals are available with lodging
and charters. Stay tuned folks it is gonna get hot very quickly!

Salmon fishing on Eastern Lake Ontario has been getting better.
Good size kings are showing up in our case catches daily. We have
been fishing 5-6 miles off the Salmon River in 100-140' of water.
Attractors/fly combos and spoons have been doing the damage on our
charters lately. We have been catching a few lakers, browns and
steelheads mixed in with the kings. Lake trout fishing has still
been good for charters targeting them off the bottom with cowbells-
it's a great plan B for those days salmon are in a funk. Happy to
say it has been a couple weeks since we have fished for them. The
brown trout are hanging in tighter to shore in 50-70' and are taking
smaller spoons off riggers 10-20' off the bottom. We still have
dates available for middle August thru late September. We are still
offering package deals with lodging and 2 days chartering Call for
details- best time is in the evenings.

King salmon are finally starting to trickle into the eastern end
of Lake Ontario. We are going out deep to 120+ feet of water, 5-6
miles out of the Salmon River. Lake trout are biting very well in
the same areas. Targeting lake trout has kept the action up while
waiting for the kings to show. There has been plenty of them to
catch too and very large ones at that, 14-18 pound fish have been
common. The water temperatures are finally starting to warm up and
the fish are responding well. Brown trout are still hanging in tighter
to shore 40-60' and a steady pick has been common. We still have
plenty of dates over the next few months. We are offering package
deals for lodging and trips to save you money- our rates are the
most reasonable on this end of Lake Ontario. We have been chartering
and guiding Lake Ontario and the Salmon River for 25 years so there
is no lack of experience here. You will get your moneys worth with
us!
We run our charters and drift boat guide trips full time. Always
have always will. No weekend Captains here.
We are offering 2 day charter package deals with 3 nights lodging
for very reasonable rates. Feel free to call for more info.
June 26, 2015
Lake trout fishing has been saving our season so far. They have
been the bet for trollers along the eastern shore. Plenty of big
lakers have been hitting the deck too! The weather needs to stabilize
a bit and the king salmon will be showing up in better numbers gradually
thru July. Brown trout are giving us some action further into Mexico
Bay - not great but not bad either- same story.
If it stabilizes with some decent weather it will improve as the
trout move deeper. Walleye fishing on Oneida Lake has been excellent
from all the reports I have been hearing from other Captains fishing
there. We have mostly been sticking to the charters on Lake Ontario.
We are offering 2 day charter package deals with 3 nights lodging
for very reasonable rates. Feel free to call for more info.
May 20, 2015
Walleye fishing on the Lake Ontario bays has been decent at times
but tough as well at times. The weather has been back and forth
causing unstable conditions. When the weather has been stable the
walleye seem to cooperate better. Lake trout fishing on Lake Ontario
has been excellent-Not much more to say about it then that! King
salmon and brown trout have been showing signs of life but sporadically.
We have lots of dates for Lake Ontario charters for lake trout,
brown trout or king salmon. Take your pick and we will target whatever
your looking for. If all else fails we can easily pick up
decent action for lake trout.
Oneida walleye action is awesome from all reports. Its been excellent
trolling worm/spinners and jigging with sonar's all during the day.
Lake Ontario walleye trips are still worth while, in my opinion
there is still another month of good fishing left on the big lake
for big walleye. The cold winter and crummy spring has just delayed
the big bite by a few weeks.
I see much better fishing coming soon. We are also offering lodging
now so we can get a package deal set up for you. The more charters
and nights booked for lodging the better our deals will be. Our
rates are very reasonable already but we can make it even better
for June and July especially for weekday trips. Give us a call and
get some details- We started in 1990 and this is our 25th year in
business guiding the Salmon River and chartering Lake Ontario- We
certainly have the experience to get the fish where ever they swim.
April 14, 2015
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been up and down a lot
lately. We get a few good days going then we struggle for a day.
Water levels are up and that is helping some. There is a ton of
steelheads in the hatchery waiting to drop back so the rest of the
season is likely to improve. Brown trout fishing on the Lake Ontario
is on fire- slow trolling stick baits along the shallow shoreline
is producing good catches of small to average size fish. There are
a few bigger ones mixed in too but plenty of average ones.
The weather has improved dramatically and the fishing should follow
suit.
March 13, 2015
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been tough lately. The
cold snowy winter has made conditions less then ideal. The good
news is spring is coming in quick and conditions are improving.
Each day we seem to get a little better action then the previous
day. The weather has been a lot nicer and that's a bonus!
Keep checking out Facebook
page for more frequent updates.
We still have guides available for spring steelhead fishing.
Walleye trips are booking up quick, if you want to get into some
good eating fish get your May or June walleye trip booked now!
February 7, 2015
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been just ok lately.
Low water 285 cfs and very cold temperatures have made for tough
conditions for fishing. The shelf ice, anchor ice and slush are
really hampering our efforts.
Most days we have been confined to the upper river to avoid these
extremes, on top of all that there is plenty of other anglers trying
to find fishable waters as well. So the weekday trips have been
much more successful then the weekends. Getting into a few decent
spot has been making all the difference in the world.

Yes! We do fish the Salmon River for steelheads all winter on
any day you want to try we will go and try. We won't cancel you
for weather but if you don't think you can handle it we can try
to reschedule but we won't cancel your trip if you decide to try!
Yesterday we went out in -10degrees at a 9am start and got into
some really good fish despite cold conditions. Yes you'll need to
be set up right with cold weather clothing but our boats are heated
and the heaters do help. Anyways our beloved Salmon River is fishing
well in 750cfs.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been up and down lately-
We have had some really good days mixed in with just ok days. Utilizing
the drift boat and covering a lot of water to find hot fish has
helped our production. Water levels have been great ranging from
a big 500cfs for a few weeks to 1500cfs now.
Let's hope this holds out for a few weeks and the mother load comes
in for Christmas!
We have new cabins for accommodations and plenty of availability
though out the winter.
Package deals available-
Spring drop back steelhead and walleye dates go fast -April and
May are prime months -get your reservations in asap!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Have a happy and safe new year!!
With many fish on!!

November 28, 2014
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been ok. We have had
some tough days lately with just so-so action.
Water levels have finally increased to 750cfs and we have seen a
gradual increase in action over the last few days. Certainly not
on fire but more steelheads seem to be cooperating with increasing
flows. We have guides and lodging available for the rest of the
year and of course through winter and spring of 2015. Our new cabins
have been a BIG hit with our customers so far - book a night and
I bet you will become a regular with us.
Our steelhead rates are very reasonable for the lodging and for
guided drift boat trips. Thanks for checking us out!
If your looking for that perfect gift for the fisher person in your
life we offer gift certificates which make great Christmas gifts!!

October 23, 2014
Salmon have begun to fade out of the Salmon River. Making way for
the fresh chrome steelheads. After chasing kings for the last 5
months I am so ready for steelhead! But looking back salmon fishing
was much better this summer on Lake Ontario then it was on the Salmon
River this fall- it has been a tough river season for king salmon
fishing. But into steelhead season we go! We been watching floats
drop for a week now. It has been steady fishing-
Not crazy good but decent enough to make everyone happy. And know
one is happier then I am! Our schedule is very tight the next month
but we can find drift boat guides if anyone wants to plan something
last minute.
Thanks for checking us out!

October 5, 2014
Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been very tough for us drift
boat guides. We have been struggling to put fish in the boat. The
water levels are a low 350cfs. Being stuck floating upper river
has hurt our success rates. The lower river has been getting a blasts
of fish as the fish make it up top hopefully out luck will change.
We stuck it out on the lake as long as we could but last Wednesday
was my last charter for 2014. We actually had been going ok off
the river mouth the days prior to that. But all good things must
come to an end and now it's been a struggle on the river. Hopefully
the run will end up in the top end soon!
Some more rain would help out big time so please do a rain dance
for us.

September 23, 2014
Salmon fishing has been tough all over- the Salmon River has been
the worse I've seen for this late in September in many years. Lake
Ontario is still producing a few salmon each trip by no means are
we doing well. The night fishing at the river mouth has been the
best bet as of late. The guys willing to give up some sleep are
getting best action of any of the options for this time in the season.
We expect more movement in the river soon but everything seems 2-3
weeks behind still. With some luck a good load of fish will show
up and it will be on fire soon! As for now it's still fishing and
the last few seasons were outstanding so now it looks like it'll
be one of those so-so years. We caught plenty out on the open lake
most of the summer. Next season if there's any question about river
fishing book a summer charter we can show you what nice silver good
eating fish are really like Thanks for checking us out!

Salmon fishing on Eastern Lake has turned on big time! Good numbers
of king and coho salmon are staging up a few miles off the Salmon
River. Of course there has been some concern over the numbers of
kings returning this season but I assure it is all for nothing.
The run is just running behind a few weeks and there are plenty
- I mean plenty on the way! That said I still believe the Salmon
River to see small pods moving in steadily all month. No really
major runs for a few more weeks. Of course come late September that
will change when these fish are ready to go. It has been a year
where the fish have been slow to mature thus they showed up a few
weeks late. I fully expect several more very productive weeks of
deep water trolling on Lake Ontario. Along with some decent inshore
fishing in the shallow waters just off the Salmon River. We still
have guides and charters available, we would love to help you out
getting a fishing trip set up for you.
Thanks for checking us out!

August 17, 2014
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been hit or miss lately. The
kings have been scattered and uncooperative for awhile now. Lake
trout fishing has picked up the slack. They have been hungry and
eager to please. Lots of big trout too,
10-12 pounders have been common. Some pushing 20 pounds have been
welcomed aboard. The weather has been wreaking havoc on Lake Ontario
trollers. We've had almost a week steady of big seas keeping us
on the side lines for the most part. The good news is the wind brings
the salmon back to our end of the lake. The last few days has seen
a gradual improvement in the salmon fishing. The fish are hanging
out in 200-300 feet of water. Chilling down a cool 130-160 feet.
The usual green glow e chip flasher and the green crinkle glow flies
have been best. The stinger glow alewife pattern has been the spoon
of choice. There no numbers of salmon in the Salmon River yet. If
I were to make a prediction I would say it looks like the run will
be on the later side this season. The fish seem to have a ways to
go before maturing from what I have seen of fish we have caught.
We still have plenty of openings for summer charters and fall river
drift boat trips. Get us your dates we would be happy to help you
out!
We have several cabins that will be available to rent by mid September.
So now we are providing lodging as well as charters and drift boat
trips.
Thanks for checking us out!
July 22, 2014
King salmon are showing up on Eastern Lake Ontario in good numbers.
Trollers are catching salmon in 100-300' straight off the Salmon
River and points north to the Sandy Creeks. The usual green glows
chips n fly combos have been hot in the early am then silver flashy
colors once the sun gets up. Lake trout and brown trout have been
a good plan B for the days the kings are stubborn. Loads and loads
of bait fish have been hanging out on our end of Lake Ontario all
season. The kings salmon & trout have had backed stomachs, it's
almost surprising they still bite at all. There has plenty of openings
still available through the rest of summer and if we can not take
you out we can get one of our friends to take you.
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.
July 10, 2014
King salmon are showing up in the eastern basin of Lake Ontario.
Decent action on good sized chinooks is always a pleasure to report.
Straight off the Salmon River 6 to 7 miles in 150-200' seems to
be the spot. The usual green glow flashers and green glow flies
are doing the best for us.
The weather has been sketchy lately with crazy thunderstorms and
heavy winds.
This is what mostly likely caused the influx of salmon to our side
of Lake Ontario. So while the weather is seen as bad for some it's
a blessing for others. I personally believe the rough weather helped
scatter the bait, thus making the kings have to hunt harder for
their forage. August, September and October dates are getting jammed
up - if you want a trip that's prime time so get it booked soon!
Salmon season does not start in September or October it's starts
now!
We have plenty of dates this month-
Salmon are in their absolute prime right now- the best eating fish
of the season come in July and August from the deep water on Lake
Ontario- that is a fact!
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.
June 18, 2014
Fishing on Lake Ontario has been up and down lately. Lake trout
and steelheads have been making up the majority of action but we
have been taking the occasional king salmon as well. The better
fishing has been over the deeper water 200-300 feet west of the
Salmon River. Black and silver UV spoons are doing the best on coppers
and lead cores. A few fish are coming off the down riggers 25-45'
down. As conditions stabilize the fishing will be more and more
consistent. We still have plenty of dates open for the rest of summer.
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.
May 27, 2014
Trolling Lake Ontario has been producing some nice king salmon
by day and big walleyes by night. Oneida Lake is on fire for walleyes.
We been doing a few trips here and there keeping us pretty busy.
There's plenty of good fishing opportunities all around the area.
We have dates open through the summer for charters and judging by
the start of our season it's gonna be hot fishing this summer! Fall
salmon dates are filling up so get in touch with us ASAP to book
-prime time books up fast.
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.
April 21, 2014
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been so-so. Below average
fishing for late April. Water levels have been very high for a few
weeks but are settling down gradually. And slowly the fishing has
been improving. It is going to get very good as the post spawn steelheads
start to drop down out of the hatchery and upper river. The steelhead
fishing will be very good well into May this year. We have plenty
of open dates still, there is at least another good month of chasing
steelheads in the Salmon River. Water levels are 2250cfs.
Brown trout fishing has been smoking hot! Trollers are catching
good numbers of small to medium size brown trout along the shallow
shore line of Lake Ontario.
Walleye season open up the first Saturday of May. The better walleye
fishing will be in June this year. The water is very cold and the
spawn is way behind.
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.
April 2, 2014
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent. We are working
for the fish but most days have been consistent 10-12 hook ups with
about 500 batting average. A few days a week have been slightly
better but maybe one day a little worse. You know typical early
spring steelhead fishing on the Salmon River. Oh there are excuses
like crowds, cold weather and the usual water level thing but you
know what excuses are like? It is what it is and we have had a lot
of fun trying. The water levels have been and will be increasing
a lot over the next week.
I fully believe it will be going really big very soon. It is at
1200cfs at the dam but with run off it over 1600cfs @ the Pineville
gauge. Warmer weather and rain is forecasted for late week so this
may cause a rapid flow increase.
I like higher water but if it blows out we all lose a few days fishing
the river. It is just the way it is in the spring after a tough
snowy winter.
We still have guides available though out April and early May for
steelhead fishing off drift boats on the Salmon River. With the
higher water it's the best option for safety and success.
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.
March 13, 2014
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been ok. Water levels
have been low- 285cfs. The river has been pretty busy lately. Weekdays
have been a lot better then the weekends. I expect the water flows
to gradually increase as the weather breaks this month. This will
certainly help our cause. The really good side to this cold snowy
winter is the steelheads will hang out later into spring. The first
few weeks into May will be smokin! We still have guides available
through out the season.
Please give us a ring if your ready to get outside soon
Either call - email or message us on Facebook.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent lately. A
few good days a week and a few ok days. Water levels are low and
the weather has been tough. There's plenty of chrome steelheads
in the river but at times they've been finicky. The size has been
impressive with plenty of 12+ pound fish coming to the net. Water
levels should be coming up with warmer weather on the way. We still
have plenty of open dates available but they're filling up.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been so-so. Low water,
cold weather and lots of snow have hampered our efforts recently.
The usually beads and egg sacks have been the best but plugs and
spinners have been catching a few as well. We have lots of open
dates for the winter- get out and enjoy some of the best steelheading
any where. We also have Christmas gift certificates for Salmon River
Guide drift boat trips & Lake Ontario Charters. We are taking
summer and fall salmon dates for 2014 - get them booked now. Thanks!

Steelhead fishing has been getting good! Water levels are increasing
daily ~ currently 1800cfs. + run off = great drift boat fishing!
No better or safer way to fish the Salmon River for steelheads under
high water conditions. Plenty of good action all week. Float fishing
beads has been working just fine lately. Drifters back trolling
lure are doing well too. The kings are all but gone now. We have
drift boat guides available most days for the rest of the season-

Bad news first-
The salmon fishing is winding down fast on the Salmon River. The
good news is the steelhead action is cranking up fast. The really
good news is the water levels have been increasing steadily over
the last week. It's running at 1200cfs, perfect for drifting the
river in a drift boat Thanks for checking us out!

Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been awesome. Good runs
of fish have been coming in regularly all season. Back trolling
plugs has been the ticket for last 3 weeks, limits have been common.
Water levels have been low 335cfs. There's still plenty of king
salmon left to run. There's still a few left in Lake Ontario and
more hanging out in the Salmon River. Plenty of fish will be in
the river the rest of the month. Steelheads are starting to show
up. Most are hanging out in the lower river but a few are trickling
thru to the uppers sections. We have guides available
This week and even a few open for the weekend.

Salmon fishing around Pulaski is firing on all cylinders! Lake
Ontario is producing kings and coho salmon over deep water as well
as near shore. The night trips off the mouth of the Salmon River
have been doing ok- not crazy action but still producing ok catches.
The Salmon River has plenty of kings in the holes but movement has
been slow. The estuary is jammed with fish but they seem to be content
hanging down there just yet. Water levels are 335 cfs which is pretty
low but still floatable in a drift boat. The last few days were
our first few runs down in the drift boats and the plug bite was
good! Water temps have gone down quickly -63 degrees which is good
temps for biting salmon. We still have availability for Lake Ontario
charters and Salmon River drift boat guides. Weekends are pretty
tight but we can try to help you get set up best we can. Some of
our guides are willing to do afternoon runs if nothing else in available
in the mornings. Salmon River Guide

King salmon are staged up off the Salmon River in Lake Ontario.
Good numbers of salmon are showing up on our sonars from 50 to 150'
of water. They have been biting really good one trip then not so
good the next. The Salmon River has had some early runs already
but conditions have been tough on the fish. Low water and warm weather
has made it so the water temperatures sore so many of the early
king salmon have succumbed due to lack of oxygen in the water. The
good news is the weather has gotten much cooler and water levels
have increased enough turn the situation around quickly. We will
be starting our Salmon River drift boat trips very soon. Our charter
boat fishing trips on Lake Ontario will continue for another few
weeks as well. Salmon have been huge this year with the average
fish being over 20 pounds.
We still have plenty of open dates this month- give us a ring and
get your salmon fishing trip booked!

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been picking up over the last
week. We have been catching king salmon all summer but not great
numbers by no means. Weather had been the big problem with unstable
patterns all summer. More and more kings are starting to stage off
the Salmon River. Most charters are targeting kings in 120'-150'.
Pro troll E-chips with flies have been taking fish along with the
old tried and true cut bait rigs. There's been a small number of
fish showing up in the Salmon River. It's definitely way early to
call this a "run" but there are king salmon in the Salmon
River. We still have plenty of open dates for drift boat trips on
the Salmon River for kings and steelheads. It is looking like we
should have plenty of water for drifting this salmon season! Thanks
for checking us out!

Salmon fishing is heating up on eastern Lake Ontario. It's not
smoking hot by no means but getting more consistent and the quality
of the fish makes up for the lack of quantity. The size of the king
salmon have been very impressive for this early in the season. We
still have plenty of open dates for August and September on Lake
Ontario for kings and coho salmon.

June 26, 2013
Summer salmon fishing has started to produce decent catches of
kings for charter fishing eastern Lake Ontario.
Over the last week our charters started searching for king salmon
out in deeper water off the Salmon River. It took us a few days
to get the pattern hammered out but it has paid off over last few
days. The bonus is we've been taking some big kings along with big
lake trout. Trolling spoons off the riggers and flasher/fly combos
off the wire divers rigs has been the hot ticket for us. Lake Ontario
has the best king salmon fishing of all the Great Lakes! July and
early August are also good for brown trout and steelhead bonus fish-
We often catch multiple species on every trip then. We still have
a lot of open dates for summer charters- get a date booked for some
great fighting summer king salmon, lake trout, steelheads and brown
trout.

June 17, 2013
Eastern Lake Ontario continues to produce decent brown trout fishing
along the shoreline. Some king salmon are also showing up in deeper
water as well. Of course plenty of lake trout are available anytime
the other salmonoid species aren't cooperating. Oneida Lake is still
doing well for walleye. We have plenty of dates open for the summer-
give us a call!

June 6, 2013
Our Lake Ontario Charters are going well! The big charter boat
has been producing decent catches of brown trout close to the shoreline
in 10-30'. Walleye fishing on Oneida Lake has been very good this
spring. Dragging worms by day is producing good numbers of decent
size walleye. Oswego should still be producing big trophy size walleye
by night but we have not had a chance to get out over there lately.
Typically it produces big walleye until late June.
We have plenty of dates open for the rest of spring and early summer.
August, September and October are filling fast- we been booking
a few trips a day- if you want to go after the big mature king salmon
in later summer get your trip booked soon!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been going good. Water
levels are up to around 2000cfs, very good for drift boating the
entire river. There are plenty of steelheads spawning still and
even a few fresh chromers still moving up stream. Of course the
drop backs are scattered around through out the river system. Brown
trout fishing along the lake shore has been very good by the weather
has been less than ideal for trollers most days. We still have days
open! The weather is improving and water levels should remain above
normal for several more weeks.

April 8, 2013
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been up and down the
last few weeks. Water levels have remained low and the pressure
is up. Most days we have put together decent numbers but not the
typical good fishing that's the usual for April. The lingering cold
weather has not helped much either. The water levels will be increasing
soon and the fishing will be back on track as it rises. The weather
is warming and the rain is in the forecast - all positive signs
for the rest of the season. With the prolonged winter the season
will be extended by a few weeks at least.
We will be running trips for steelhead through mid May at least
this year.
We still have plenty of dates for the next month for steelhead fishing
and brown trout trolling along the shore of Lake Ontario. Early
reports of trollers along the lake shore have been excellent so
far. Some big brown trout are already being taken from the mouth
of the Salmon River to the Oswego harbor. Walleye dates are filling
up fast! The first 3 weeks of May are almost filled. I would expect
good walleye fishing through mid June this year. If you want to
catch monster walleye this spring give us a ring.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be productive.
Water levels have been a steady 900cfs for over week now, perfect
for drift boating. Not much else has changed since the last report
- Beads under floats seem to be the best producers with egg sacks
and pink worms working sometimes. I know the drift boat guides running
plugs are hitting steelheads as well. With old man winter refusing
to release his grip on us good steelhead fishing will run well into
May this year. Brown trout fishing along the shore of Lake Ontario
will begin to pick up as the weather warms up. We still have dates
for spring steelheads fishing, Lake Ontario brown trout trolling
and May trophy walleye trips out of Oswego Harbor.

February 4, 2013
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains good. Water levels
have been up- 1600 cfs, perfect for floating the river. Snow is
still making access to out of the way areas tough. This leaves a
lot of choice spots for the drift boats. It's been the usual bead
and egg sack bite fished under floats of course. Pressure has been
down even in the easy access spots. The quality of the fish has
been better this year then the last few with bigger fish becoming
more common. Landing the bruisers had been an issue though, getting
spanked by brute has been a common occurrence. However we have managed
boating a few dandy steelheads recently. We still have dates available
from not through late April. We are offering 2 day package deals
for weekdays until the middle of March- call or email for details.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been great this winter!
Good runs of steelheads seem to be endless this season. Water levels
have pretty good due to melting snow, right now it's 1100cfs perfect
for drift boat fishing.
The snow is very deep and wading is pretty tough unless your fishing
close to a parking lot. This works to the drift boaters advantage.
It leaves a lot of open areas to fish;) We have plenty of open dates
through April for steelhead drift boat fishing trips. In May &
June we charter for walleye and trout on Lake Ontario.
From June until Sept we troll deep water for trout and salmon. Give
us a call and get your Lake Ontario adventure booked today!

week. Water levels have been increasing and pressure has been dropping

Water levels on the Salmon River have increased to 285cfs! That's
enough water for us guides to row our drift boats down the Salmon
River. There's been decent trout and salmon action on the entire
river. Back trolling lures for kings has been working. Float fishing
bead and egg sacks has been the best for steelheads. Falling leaves
have made things difficult from time to time lately. The smaller
tributaries have producing decent action for those willing to hike
away from the access areas. We have guides available for the rest
of the season.

Salmon fishing on the Salmon River and Lake Ontario has been very
good.
Lots of king and coho salmon in the Salmon River and other Lake
Ontario tributaries. Water levels are still very low 185cfs - which
is still to low to float the drift boats. So we've been fish evenings
from the boats at the river mouth and doing quite well most nights.
The rough windy nights we have struggled a bit but on the calm nice
nights it's been easy pickings.
If you have trips scheduled with us over the next few weeks expect
wade fishing
or evening fishing from the drift boats.
If we get a lot of rain this could change but as of right now we
are NOT able to float down the river!

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been decent lately. We are taking
fish in shallows along the lake shore as well as out deep still.
The big news is the huge runs of kings running up the Salmon River!
Over the last week the runs have been
described as biblical, epic and insane. Good news for river fishermen
worried we were catching them all in the charters this summer. Like
I've said in the past good lake years equal great river years. On
the down side of things the water levels remain low in the river
185cfs. The night fishing has just begun and is just OK so far.
This will be getting better and better as the lake cools off and
the fish bunch up out front.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario continues to impress! Over all August
was awesome! Kings and coho salmon are staging up just a few miles
off the Salmon River in 70-100'. Good reports are coming in from
Oswego all the way to Henderson Harbor. There's a few kings already
heading up the Salmon River. Not nearly enough to call a run but
they're starting. The River water is really warm so don't expect
them to make it far just yet. We are still in drought conditions
which typically prolongs the season in the lake. The water levels
in the river are going to be cut to 185cfs for September, at least
until we get some significant rains. Give us a call for Lake Onatrio
salmon charters or Salmon River drift boat fishing.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario continues to be very good. Trolling
flasher fly combos over 120-140' of water off the Salmon River to
Sandy Pond has been producing good action.
Down riggers have been firing at 100-120' down and dipsies run 240-330'
are taking plenty of shots as well. The usual green or white glow
pro trolls with hammer flies are working fine.
Dates are still available for Lake Ontario charters! 315-298-4530

Salmon fishing on eastern Lake Ontario had been just OK for the
last few weeks. Most days we have had decent but not great catches.
Well that all changed the last few trips. Especially today was on
fire! There are lots of new salmon showing up in 100-150' of water
on the eastern shore. Kings and cohos have kept us busy. The usual
flasher/fly combos run down 90-110' off riggers and 300-330' off
wire divers. We have this Weds/Thurs open if you want to get in
on the action while it's HOT!!

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been tougher lately. A few days
with strong wind has messed up the temperature. We are still taking
salmon and trout each day but working hard for them most of the
time. We have had a few decent trips but certainly nothing like
it was early in July and June.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario is still going strong. There has
been big king salmon coming to the boat everyday.
The only exception has been when we decide to fish for brown trout.
Yesterday Lake Ontario was a bit rough. We decided to play it safe
and trout fish closer to home. It was easy pickings! Loads of brown
trout in 70-90 feet of water 3-4 miles off the Salmon River.
The kings have been 8-12 miles out in 120-160' mostly North of the
Salmon River to Sandy Pond. We have plenty of open weekdays and
some afternoons on weekends. Afternoon charters have been productive.
September and October salmon dates are filling up quickly for drift
boats fishing the Salmon River. Give us a call ASAP if you want
to set up a trip. Typically a good salmon lake fishing season will
mean a very good run for the Salmon River.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario continues to impress! There has
been decent action over the last month for king salmon. The best
time of the year could be right now! The fillets from these salmon
are prime for eating. We have been heading out 120'-150 straight
out of the Salmon River and finding good action all the way north
to Sandy Pond. Spoons and flasher/fly combos are both working equally
well mostly off riggers fished just off the bottom 10-20'. 2012
will go down as one of the best fishing years ever on Lake Ontario!!

Eastern Lake Ontario is producing decent salmon and trout action.
Good size king salmon and steelheads have been a regular occurrence
this June. Lake Ontario trollers are finding salmon in 150'-200'.
Spoons run off riggers, divers and copper rods have been producing
well. There's still plenty of time to book your summer Lake Ontario
charter. July and August are prime months for salmonoids.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent lately. Water
levels are low 285cfs. This makes for a bumpy ride. Running beads
or egg sacks under floats has been working fine. There's rain in
the forecast for the next few days, with a little help from mother
nature water level will rise on the Salmon River. Brown trout fishing
on the shore of Lake Ontario has been very good. Trollers have been
finding it tough to get out due to strong north west winds but when
they do it's been easy picking. Walleye season is coming up in a
few weeks, get your monster walleye trip booked now.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good the last
week or so. We have been drift boating from top to bottom finding
fish pretty much throughout the river. Lots of fish are dropping
out but there seems to be plenty still spawning. There is even a
few fresh ones coming in. Water levels are dropping to 900cfs. I
would expect the levels to gradually decrease over the next few
weeks. Let's hope for rain to keep the season going thru May. The
Hatchery has collected their eggs. In a few more weeks they will
open the gates to let spawners out to the river. Brown trout fishing
along the shore of Lake Ontario continues to be productive although
the wind has been tough recently. Trollers are fishing stick baits
in very shallow water all along Mexico Bay to the Salmon River.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River is picking up steam! The
drop back blitz is starting way early this year. We have been hitting
good number of steelhead using floats with beads and plugging! Yes
plugging! Back trolling hot shot and rapalas thru the gravel where
the steelheads are spawning has been working great. Water levels
are running high 1800cfs- Which is ideal for drift boating the Salmon
River. Brown trout are also biting stick baits and spoons along
shore of Lake Ontario. We still have guides open for the next few
weeks.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent. Pretty much
the same story - beads or egg sacks under floats has been doing
just fine. Today we had a fly fishermen, he hooked into some nice
fish using an indicator with a stonefly. He also hooked several
on beads.
Water levels are at 1200cfs. The river has been crowded. The nice
weather has really brought out the troops. We still have drift boat
guides available throughout April. There's about 6 weeks left to
spring steelhead fishing so let's go!

February 29, 2012
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains so-so. Most days
have been average at best with 1 or 2 good days a week mixed in.
There are plenty of steelheads in the river but they are not cooperating.
Egg sacks and beads fished under floats has been working best. Stoneflies
bottom bounced or fished behind a indicator are also taking steelheads.
We still have plenty of open dates through spring. Our charter boat
will be going in early this season. We will be in search of spring
brown trout close to the shore of Lake Ontario. Book your spring
or summer Lake Ontario Charter now!

February 22, 2012
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has slowed way down the last
few days. We're still catching a few fish but not even close to
what we were doing over the past few weeks. Today we hit steelheads
that were pre spawn, spawning and post spawn. Egg sacks and beads
under floats are still doing the best. The water is low and clear
so light tippet has been helping. Water levels are low- 500cfs.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been consistently good.
Water levels have been great 900-1200cfs.
Beads and sacks fished under floats has been producing good action
day in and day out. Steelhead have been biting though out the run.
Most days we have been hitting fish in 8-10 stops and few more along
the way. Lately we've been covering 7-9 miles and stopping in at
least a dozen different areas each day. We have plenty of open dates
through March and April. We specialize in float fishing with center
pins and spinning gear. When you fish with us, all the fishing is
done off the drift boat in front of a big heater. No waders are
needed, dress in your warmest gear.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good for us
lately. Plenty of action to keep everyone quite happy:)
Float fishing beads and egg sacks has been working great. The Salmon

is nice when drifting the river. We have been covering lots of water
which always help production.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good recently.
Water levels have increased to 900cfs for the last 5 days. Even

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been decent. Most days
have been just about average. We are covering lots of water and
finding the fish scattered through most deeper holding areas but
not concentrated in any particular spot. 10 mil trout beads run
under floats have been doing the best.
Water levels- Until 11:59 PM Mon JAN 02, 900 CFS

Steelhead action picked up good today. The Salmon River is running

Steelhead fishing was tough today. Drastic reduction in water levels
and a very cold night had the fish off today. We still managed 5
to the boat and lost a few. Two days ago water levels were 1000cfs
today they went to 335cfs. Beads under floats worked best but egg
sacks and egg pattern flies are also taking fish. I have Tuesday,
Thursday and Friday open this week.

Steelhead fishing was good today. We fish Altmar to the ball park
and hit fish from the beginning to the end. Landing them was tough
and we got out butts kicked often! But a lot of action is fun. With

working great. Water levels are scheduled to recede tonight to 1000cfs.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been a lot better this
past week. Water levels perked up, crowds thinned out and fresh
fish showed up. Water levels are still only 335cfs but with run
off it's around 500cfs+ at the Pineville gauge. The lower Salmon
River has been seeing decent numbers of brown trout moving thru
the last few days. Egg sacs and beads fished under floats or indicators
have been working the best for us. Egg patterns and small nymphs
are also working for bottom bouncing. TIP- using 6# flouro leader
is very important to getting fish to bite. We have plenty of open
dates or the rest of the fall and winter get your dates booked now!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River is so-so. A few good days,
a few OK days and a few slow days each week. Low water and crowded
conditions are making it tough to find decent spots especially on

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been awesome. Lots of
good size chrome steelheads being taken daily. Beads under floats
have continued to produce lots of action from upper to lower river.
Water levels are 750cfs but gradually dropping. November will be

around but numbers are dwindling. We still have guides with open

Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been very good. Steady runs
of king salmon have been the norm over the last few weeks. Back
trolling lures in the bigger holes in the middle section of the
Salmon River has been producing consistently good results for us.
Steelhead are showing up in better numbers each day. Drifting sacks,
pink worms and beads has been getting us into some nice trout. No
great numbers but some really decent size steelhead's. Loads of
salmon are ripping up the gravel bars spawning and spewing loads
of eggs down the river. Of course the steelhead's are feeding in
areas just behind the spawn beds- it's always a good bet the trout
are not to far behind the kings. The water levels remain at 335cfs.

Salmon fishing on the Salmon River has been tough. Low water, warm
sunny weather and large weekend crowds made the fish quite skiddish.
Water level remain low 335cfs. Fishing improved slightly today with
pressure dropping off dramatically from the weekend. More and more
steelheads have been showing up daily throughout the river. A bit
of wet weather is forecasted over the next few days, with any luck
this will improve the flow and the fishes attitude.

The Salmon River is seeing the biggest run king and coho salmon
this fall. Big numbers of salmon are on the move through mid to
lower Salmon River and I'd say the upper river is going to see plenty
of fish over the next few days. The drift boats fishing Lake Ontario
at the mouth of the Salmon River have been having productive nights
and mornings. This would indicate plenty of fish to come! Steelhead
fishing is fast approaching! November and December are prime months
to catch fresh giant chrome steelheads. Get in on the action with
one of our guides in a comfortable, safe heated drift boat. It's
the best way to cover a lot of water effectively. We are not Altmar
to Pineville guides! We cover mid to lower Salmon River depending
on which stretches are productive. We offer fly fishing, center
pin and spin fishing so you choose your weapon of choice.

September 29, 2011
Salmon fishing on the Salmon River is heating up quick! Good rain
finally hit the area. The rain brought a good push of fresh kings
thru the lower river. Lake Ontario has been still producing a good
night bite. Drift boats are taking kings on glow spoons slow trolled
in front of the Salmon River mouth. Steelhead fishing is right around
the corner. We start switching over from salmon to steelhead around
mid October and run trip all fall, winter & spring. If you think
salmon fishing is fun you should really try a trip for steelhead!
Salmon River Guide
September 26, 2011
Salmon fishing has been very good at the mouth of the Salmon River.
Night trollers are using glow spoons off the break walls and having
alot of action. The water levels remain low and warm for this late
in the season and the salmon seem to be happy out in Lake Ontario.
There have been small movements of kings and cohos over the last
week but numbers are certainly not up to par for late September.
If your fishing the river it hasn't been easy pickens by no means.
There's cooler temps and rain in the forecast so I'd expect the
action to improve gradually over the next week or so. The good news
is the run will be extended into late October this year. There's
still time to get in on the action. We have some availability in
October as well as plenty of steelhead dates open through the fall
and winter. We have a 19' heated drift boat for your comfort and
safety in the winter months for steelhead fishing.
Salmon River Guide
September 18, 2011
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has gone down hill fast. Lots of
wind pushed the kings and cohos in close to shore and moved a big
bunch up the Salmon River. Up until Saturday we were doing quite
well trolling deeper water for cohos. The wind came and the shallow
water paid off big time for kings just for a few days. The Salmon
River estuary and lower river are seeing good numbers of salmon.
I would say there's more to come out of the lake but conditions
are tough and the bite is SLOW! It's amazing how fast it changes.
Our drift boat guides fishing at night around the river mouth are
doing well but by day the fish just don't want to cooperate. This
is the transition time of year for the fish and us charter captains
will now become drift boat guides and chase the fish where they
go- up river!
Salmon River Guide
September 12, 2011
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario remains very good lately. We are
trolling 40-60' off the the mouth of the Salmon River. King and
coho salmon are biting attractor/fly combos and J-plugs in the usual
green/white glow colors. The Salmon River has been tough the last
few days - low water (335cfs) has the fish hanging in the deepest
spots in the deepest holes. Very few salmon on the move lately.
Same story at the river mouth, not a whole lot happening. The best
bet right now is daytime trolling off shore on charter boat.
Salmon River Guide
September 7, 2011
The first good push of salmon were blasting through the lower Salmon
River today. It looks like the cooler temps and increase in water
levels did the trick in motivating the kings. I guess we did not
get enough rain to keep the flow up and the power company has decided
to drop the water back to 335 CFS. This could change quickly if
enough rain falls & it is forecasted to keep raining.
Lake Ontario still has plenty of salmon lurking around. Today we
fished in 50-60' of water and marked a ton of fish. The bite was
decent yet again.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario was very good over the weekend.
Today was tougher but not terrible.
Kings are hanging in 60-100' off the Salmon River. They're biting
fly/flasher combos and the usual glow J plugs.
There's some moving up the Salmon River and some in the estuary
but nothing really major yet. Night fishing is slowly improving
and should be very productive very soon. I'd expect to see better
numbers of fish moving up the river very soon as well.
Increased flow and cooler weather should help the salmon get motivated.
Water levels are going up!

August 28, 2011
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been very good the last few
weeks. Salmon have been hanging out off the Salmon River in deeper
water 125'-175' 5-8 miles out. The kings have been hitting the usual
white & green glow flasher fly combos run 100-130' down off
riggers or 300' plus off the diver rods. It's been pretty easy:)
The Salmon River has been seeing small but steady runs of salmon
in the lower to mid river. The water is at 185cfs but is supposed
to run at 335cfs starting September 1st. We did not get much precipitation
from the big storm and water levels are down in the Redfield reservoir.
The bottom line is they may open it up to get the fish in but unless
we get rain it may not stay up for very long. Dry years in the past
proved to be very good fishing in the estuary and around the mouth
in Lake Ontario. We offer evening and night trips for 2 people out
of the drift boats. This is a very exciting way to fish for salmon!

August 15, 2011
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario is heating up. Big west winds have
brought good numbers of king salmon to the East end of Lake Ontario.
We have been fishing 130'-150' taking salmon 125'-140' down with
flasher/fly combos. Lake trout, brown trout and steelhead have been
hitting as well. This is the beginning of the best part of our lake
season. Huge numbers of salmon will end up on the east end of Lake
Ontario over the next few weeks as they stage to run the Salmon
River. It's time folks! It's only going to get better!

August 4, 2011
Charter fishing on Lake Ontario continues to produce catches of
BIG king salmon. We have been finding king salmon in 150-200' off
the Salmon River. Salmon have been down 95-110' hitting flasher/fly
combos in the usual green and white patterns. Some charters are
still fishing brown trout and doing well. The trout are in 100'
hitting spoons run down 85-95'. Our dates are filling in fast, we
have plenty of weekdays open thru the end of this month and afternoons
on the weekends. Afternoon trips are productive! Give us ring or
shoot us an email to get in on the fun:)

Salmon and trout fishing off the Salmon River on eastern Lake Ontario
continues to be productive. Charters are catching trout in 60-80'
of water and king salmon are biting in 120-140'. Spoons are working
for trout and flasher/fly combos are taking kings. August looks
good for fishing on the Lake Ontario. Huge numbers of giant salmon
stage off the mouth of the Salmon River in later August and September.
That's why our area has the best salmon fishing in New York State!

Salmon and trout are still providing great action for charters
fishing Lake Ontario out of the Salmon River.
Today we took a limit by 9:30 straight off the Salmon River in 90-120'.
King salmon and brown trout were biting green glow spoons down 80-100'
off the down riggers. You never know what you might catch on lake
Ontario and today we managed a 16 pound brown trout! The king salmon
ranged from 5-20 pounds. We have plenty of opening over the next
few months including weekends. This weekend is open! Get in on the
mixed bag of salmon and trout! We offer great 2 day package deals.

King salmon fishing on eastern Lake Ontario is turning on early
this summer. Trollers are catching a mixed bag of salmon and trout.

well today. We still have dates open for summer salmon charters.

Lake Ontario has been producing decent brown trout action. The
numbers are so-so but the quality is good. We are going a bit deeper
to find action 50-60'. Stingers off the riggers, mini dipsies and
lead core have been working there magic fished 30-40' down.
King salmon are being found over deeper water off Nine Mile Point
but not in good numbers or sizes just yet. Walleye fishing on Lake
Ontario has been tough from Oswego the Henderson. Walleye fishing
on Lake Oneida has been much better, dragging worm spinner combos
in 30-35' has been producing well. Bass season has opened up and
so far the small mouth bass have been hanging in the tribs so lake
fishing is slow. We offer great 2 day package deals for during the
week in July.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been crazy good. The
easy days of the spring are here for sure. I'd expect good fishing
to continue for a few more weeks. High water has held the post spawn
steelheads in the river longer then usual. We are using beads and
egg sacks under floats and averaging 15+ fish on a trip. Brown trout
fishing along the lake shore has been outstanding as well. Trollers
are fishing 8-20' from Mexico pt to Sandy Pond and are limiting
out on a regular basis. We have boats open over the next few weeks
for both steelhead and brown trout trips. Walleye season opens up
Saturday May 6. We our getting pretty filled up for the first 3
weeks but after that we have plenty of dates through May & June.

Water levels on the Salmon River are gradually receding. Over night
the river has dropped to 1500cfs.
Steelhead fish remains awesome. We are catching spawning and post
spawn steelhead and an occasional brown trout.
The steelhead are starting to exit the hatchery pens and it won't
be long before the majority of fish are gone, gone, gone.
I give the season another 3 weeks of GOOD then it will fizzle out
fast around mid May. Brown trout are hammering stickbaits close
to shore all around Lake Ontario. It's been a windy spring and trollers
are finding it hard to get after the trout but when they have it's
been ON FIRE!

still fishing!! Steelheads do not care how high the water is. The
last few days we have had over 20 hookups a day. If you have any
doubts check out our Salmon River Guide FaceBook page. Lots of updates
and new pictures.
Salmon River Guide

Water levels on the Salmon River have increased to 2500cfs! That
is a lot of H2O. However steelhead fishing remains terrific, especially
from the drift boats. We hammered them today, as did 3 other boats
running trips for us. Yes the waters cold, murky and ripping but
if you know where to look and what to use it's been pretty easy.
Mobility is key and being in the boat is certainly a huge advantage.
I keep hearing complaints on how tough it's been for waders but
right now bank guys are very limited to certain ''safe'' areas which
only makes it better for boaters. Beads under floats have been all
we've needed. We still have guides available for thru mid May for
steelhead trips. If your struggling to catch steelhead's on the
Salmon River then you'll be happy once you try fishing with one
of our guides. It's not just catching fish it's learning techniques,
new water, how to drift properly, how to fight fish etc. etc.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been excellent over the
last few days. Water levels have increased to 1600cfs plus some
runoff. Beads under floats have been working best.Lake Ontario has
been producing decent catches of brown trout along the shoreline.
Walleye season is opening up on the first Saturday of May and we
have a lot of open dates in May and June. We offer day trips on
Oneida Lake or night fishing Oswego Harbor. Our charter boat is
going in the water very soon so get in on the salmon and brown trout
action Lake Ontario has to offer!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good over
the last few days. I hear reports that it's been tough at times
but we've been getting lucky I guess. Actually we've been very lucky
landing some fantastic fish! Most days we're catching a mix of fresh
chrome, spawning and post spawn fish. Flows are increasing fast!
I'd expect the levels to increase quite a bit very soon. It's 750cfs
at the dam but add in the run off and it's closer to 1800cfs. All
the tributaries are way up. Please use caution!
