Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains good despite cold
and snowy conditions. Water level are on the increase. Currently
the Salmon River is running at 1150cfs. With the warming/wet weather
the next few days it should stay up or possibly go even higher yet.
Egg sacks and beads still are the got to weapons for steelhead and
brown trout. There's been good numbers of fresh chrome steelheads
through mid to lower Salmon River. Be careful wading the river -
it's icy and the currents are very swift right now.
We have gift certificates available for the perfect Christmas present
for that special fishermen that's hard to figure out what to get;).
Happy Holiday's!

Steelhead fishing has remained consistently good on the Salmon
River. Today I had 1 angler and we hooked over 10 steelhead's. Yesterday
I had 2 anglers and had over 15 fish on. There's been plenty of
missed hits as well. It's been a mix of fresh chromer and darker
steelhead. A few brown and rainbow trout have been thrown in the
mix. November went down as one of the BEST months I've ever had
steelhead fishing. I expect the rest of the season to continue to
be good. We have gift certificates available for the perfect Christmas
present.
Happy Holiday's!
11/22/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been OK. Winter like
weather has made water temperatures drop and slowed the fishing
somewhat. 10-12 hook-ups a trip still is not bad but not as good
as it was earlier in the week. Water levels are decreasing over
the next few days from 1150cfs to 500cfs by Tuesday-11/25. Beads
under floats seem to do the trick day in and day out. I expect the
action to be fairly decent as the weather gradually improves back
to normal conditions. Careful wading the river the ice is starting
to be hazardous along the edges.
11/19/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be productive.
Today was a lot tougher then it has been but we still managed 10
hook-ups. It's turned ALOT colder the last few days and I'm sure
the colder water has turned them off slightly. The water levels
have increase some what-
Until 9:00 PM Sun NOV 23, 1,150 CFS
From 9:00 PM Sun, until 9:00 PM Mon, 750 CFS
There's been plenty of fresher steelhead's coming thru the lower-mid
Salmon River. I'd expect the fishing to be decent through the winter.
We have plenty of winter dates still available. Give us a call!
11/13/08
Steelhead action on the Salmon River is still red hot. Today was
non stop action from start to finish. We've been fishing upper-mid
river. Back trolling hot shots has been really good. Today float
fishing egg sacks was working great. A few steelhead's were fooled
by beads and eztaz egg patterns as well. Brown trout have shown
up in decent numbers the last few days. There are some really BIG
trophy size trout in the Salmon River right now. It's certainly
shaping up to be another great steelhead season.
11/6/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be good. Water
levels have decreased to 750cfs with run off it has been just above
1000cfs. There's been a big increase in fishing pressure with the
decrease in water levels. The upper Salmon River has been crowded
with guys but plenty of steelhead's as well. We've been floating
mid Salmon River and finding a lot less anglers thus less weary
fish. The whole river has been doing well from all the reports I've
heard. We still have plenty of drift boat guides available for the
rest of the season. We offer gift certificates for the special Christmas
gift.
11/1/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been very good the last
few days. We have been staying on the upper Salmon River to avoid
the debris and extra run off from the tribs. Trout beads under floats
have been our best weapons. Shotting heavy under the float is a
must right now. Water levels continued to increase to 1800cfs today,
with run off it is pushing 2200 through Pulaski. Steelhead trips
run ALL winter, some of the best fishing is December- February.
Take care while wading the river it is extremely dangerous right
now.
We have plenty of dates open from the end of November on. We offer
gift certificates for that perfect Christmas present.
10/29/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been so/so the last 4-5
days. The upper river has been the most consistent but everyday
there has been fresh chromer steelheads moving thru the mid -lower
river. Lately trout beads under floats have been working best. We've
had some luck bottom bouncing egg sacks as well. The weather has
been pretty crazy with 5-6''s of snow falling over night. The temps
are cold but predicted to increase the next few days. Water levels
on the Salmon River have increased to 1150cfs at the dam and pushing
1500cfs down river with the run off. We have plenty of dates available
after November 23- Our 2 day specials will start Dec 1 and run until
March 15. Give us a call for the details. We have large heated drift
boats for your comfort and safety. On our winter trips we fish from
the boat- no need to wade or have waders unless you want to. Fishing
from the drift boat provide you with great mobility and the flexibility
to fish many areas along the river quickly.
Thanks,

Salmon fishing has gone way down hill this past week. There's still
a few kings around the upper Salmon River spawning on the gravel
bars but the majority are ratty. The steelhead have been picking
up the slack for lack of salmon. Egg flies and sacks in pink and
white have been doing the best for the steelheads. Water levels
are down to 335 and should stay there unless we get a lot of rain.
The smaller tributaries have been so/so for kings with a few steelheads
mixed in. We have plenty of boats open for steelhead fishing for
November and December. Our drift boats are heated for winter trips!
Lake Ontario charters and Salmon River drift boat trips make GREAT
Christmas gifts. We have gift certificates available for that special
fisher person. Give a us a call.
10/13/08
The Salmon River continues to produce decent action for king salmon.
There has been a good number of steelhead and brown trout around
as well. Water levels have receded to 335cfs so floating the upper
river is the only game in town. That's OK because there's plenty
of salmon on the gravel spawning. The holes are still holding fresher
fish as well. I would expect the crowds to thin out quite a bit
now the big weekend is over. Fall/winter Steelhead dates are still
available. The last few steelhead seasons have been incredible.
It looks like we should be in for another banner season this year
as well. Give us a ring and get in on the chrome action.
10/1/08
Water levels on the Salmon River are staying up till at least thursday.
It's raining heavy and with more rain forecasted let's hope they
keep the water flowing. Back trolling plugs has been GREAT!
9/30/08
It has been very busy up here on the Salmon River. Salmon season
is in full swing- sorry for the delay in the reports! We have been
having a hard time keeping up with all the calls and trips. The
fishing was so/so for a while. Water levels made fishing tough.
We did Ok on most trips and better on some then others but that's
fishing:). The water levels have increased to 750cfs for the last
few days and fishing has gotten a lot better. We are mostly back
trolling plugs thru the upper/mid Salmon River. King salmon seem
to be biting best but I have seen plenty of coho and a few steelhead
and brown trout around as well.
The lower Salmon River has been hot for the trout from the reports
I have heard.

Today was the 1st float for kings on the Salmon River for 2008.
There were a lot of king salmon scattered throughout the runs and
holes all the way through the mid Salmon River. The fish were all
over our plugs all morning. We could not believe the amount of salmon
that we past over today. The upper(Altmar) and lower(Pulaski/DSR)
stretches produced salmon as well.

9/15/08
The Salmon River is getting good runs of kings salmon. Words out
the lower river was pretty hot this morning. Charter fishing on
Lake Ontario has been hit or miss lately. One trip decent the next
tough. The cohos have been the main catch lately. Saturday night
was my first night trip at the river mouth and that was so/so as
well. We ended up with few decent kings and a coho. There's certainly
a few more good weeks to come on lake and at the river mouth.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been very productive off the
Salmon River this past week.
Large quantities of king salmon have been moving into eastern Lake
Ontario. The best depths have been 70-90'. The salmon have been
biting from 60-80' down and 180-230' on the dipsies. J-plug, spoons
and the usual fly combos have all been producing king and coho salmon.
The Salmon River has been getting small but steady pushes of kings
for over a week now. Night fishing at the Salmon River mouth has
been starting off slow so far but the guides that were out the last
few nights started picking at a few salmon. I would expect the fish
to move in closer with the BIG winds they are predicting from tropical
storm Ike.

9/1/08
King salmon are moving closer and closer towards the Salmon River.
Lake Ontario charters have been producing decent catches on most
trips. There's even a few salmon starting up the Salmon River each
day. On the last few charters out on the lake we've been fishing
50-60' straight off the river mouth. Salmon have been biting glow
spoons, J-plugs and spin dr/flies down 10-20' off the bottom.
Going slower was the the key today-2.2-2.4 gps speed. A lot of BIG
salmon have been taken lately, including a NEW world record coho
caught on a charter boat out of the Little Salmon River - a whopping
34 pounds!!! We've had plenty of good kings in the mid 20s to low
30 pound range. We have dates open for charters and drift boat trips-
including Sept. 4,8,9,10,11,15,17,18
Salmon River Guide
8/26/08
Lake Ontario charter fishing has improved dramatically. We have
been taking lots of BIG king salmon in 60-70 foot of water between
the Salmon River and Sandy Pond, NY. Spin drs and pro trolls in
green & white with hammer or pro am atomik flies have been doing
the best. Best down rigger depth have been 40-60' and dipsies have
going best from 140-160'. The water in the Salmon River is at 750
cfs and there have been reports of a few king salmon scattered through
out the river. We still have open dates including this friday and
all the afternoons this weekend. It's PRIME TIME to catch GIANT
king salmon on Lake Ontario so give us a call to get your trip booked
today!

8/17/08
BIG KING SALMON have shown up! Charters on Eastern Lake Ontario
are seeing more consistent catches of salmon this past weekend.
We have not been crushing them but they are here for sure. There's
been quite few fish sneaking around the eastern basin of Lake Ontario
but weather conditions have been rough for sure. The program has
been spin drs and flies off the dispies and pro trolls off the riggers.
100'-130' of water trolling the down riggers off the the bottom
10'-20' and the dipsies have been going at 250'-300'. Green glows
early - chrome and white when the suns out. The best down speeds
have been 2.4 . We still have plenty of afternoons left and weekdays
in September. The LOC derby is on and we took this 29.2#er the 1st
day.

8/13/08
BIG SALMON DERBY!!
The LOC derby starts this Friday August 15. You can win $20,000
in cash for the biggest fish. If your chartering on Lake Ontario
it might be wise to enter. Two years in a row I had clients that
would have been into BIG bucks had they entered. Let's not make
it three. PLEASE enter here - http://www.loc.org/derby/registration/index.asp
or you can enter at the local Tackle shops. YOU NEED TO BE ENTERED
BY 6 am OF THE DAY YOU FISH.
8/11/08
Well the king salmon finally decided to show up for their party
on the east end of Lake Ontario! Of course with T-storms and young
passengers I decided to take the easy route and brown trout fish.
Which was quite productive with some of the nicest fish of the season
coming to the net. Frog ice 20' back down 92' over 110-120 was HOT!
We relied on the trout to keep us busy this weekend but that is
about to change. Several other charters trolling in 150-200' did
very well on salmon and even a few steelheads mixed in. Green pro
trolls with crinkle flies & chrome spin drs with mirage worked
best run 115-130' down off the riggers- 350' off the dipsy divers-
500' of copper worked as well. The winds had finally settled and
the temps improved dramatically over the weekend. Give us a call!
We still have a few mornings and plenty of afternoons open. -Night
trips will be starting around Sept 10- we run 2 trips a night and
can accommodate large or small groups of anglers.
Salmon River Guide
8/4/08
Trout fishing on the eastern basin has been fairly decent. Brown
trout have been our best bet as of late due to lack king salmon.
Over the weekend we trolled in 80-100' running our rigs 10-15' off
bottom. Small stingers run 20-40' back off the riggers and 220-250'
off the dipsy divers did the damage. Today we hit the browns early
then decided to change up for some king salmon action. It proved
to be a good choice. We ended up taking 2 good kings and dropping
a few more. Attractors and flies run off the dipsies-300-330' and
off the riggers-100-110' down were our producers. Get ready folks
the salmon are on there way. The BEST fishing of the season is coming
soon. Our dates are filling in for summer charters and fall drift
boat trips. DON'T WAIT! Give us a call! Don't forget to sign up
for the Fall LOC derby and have a chance at a $20,000 king salmon.
It starts August 15 and runs thru Labor day.

7/29/08
Salmon trolling on Eastern Lake Ontario was a lot tougher this
weekend. Charters mostly targeted brown trout due to lack of king
salmon. Brown trout trolling was fairly productive. Charters fished
70-90' running their riggers 10-15' off bottom. Bright colored Stinger
spoons run 20-50' back worked best for our trips. Dipsy divers were
productive run 180-220' back. We did manage to tangle with some
king salmon Saturday on our morning charter but only landed one.
The next few weeks the salmon fishing should improve as the kings
start to move east towards the Salmon River. As long as brown trout
continue to bite our charters will have plenty of action until the
king salmon show up big time.
Salmon River Guide
7/21/08
Lake Ontario continues to produce decent action for king salmon
and brown trout. Salmon are staying fairly deep, 180-240' of water.
The break has been down @ 100' and most bite have been off the down
riggers @ 90-110' down. Pro chip and spin dr flashers with hammer
and green glow hypnotist Siggs rigs flies are working best for king
salmon. The brown trout have been in 80-100' right tight to the
bottom. The best spoons have been die hard and alewife stingers.
We have plenty of dates open for the rest of summer. Our rates are
the most competitive on Lake Ontario.
7/15/08
Salmon trolling for charter boats on Lake Ontario has been up
and down lately. The king salmon have had a bit of an attitude lately.
One day good one day bad. Thank heavens for brown trout. They've
been much more reliable. Most days we've had trouble with the king
salmon the brown trout were happy to help us out. The brown trout
have been in 90-100' and hitting just off the bottom on spoons run
20-30' off the riggers. The king salmon have been much deeper 170-350'
and hitting spin dr's with flies down 90-120' run 10-30' behind
the ball. A lot of good fishing left this summer. Give us a call
or email for more info on how to get in on the action. We have plenty
of dates left.
7/6/08
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario is picking up steam. Today we trolled
the deeper water off the Salmon River finding a decent bite. Dodger/fly
combos run off down riggers, dipsy divers and copper rods all produced
kings. Every day there seems to be more and more salmon showing
up in the Eastern basin of lake Ontario. We still have plenty of
opening for the next 2 months.

6/28/08
Fishing on Lake Ontario continues to be productive. Today we trolled
50-60' of water for brown trout off the Salmon River. It was slow
early but picked up nicely later in the trip. Natural color stingers
run 40-60' back and 40-50' down did the trick. Reports from the
deeper trollers were very encouraging. King salmon were being taken
in 150-200' down 80-100'. Fly combos and spoons were working for
the persistent anglers.
Oneida has been productive for night walleye fishing. Slow trolling
worms and stick baits in shallow water is still working well.
We have plenty of summer dates open-give us a call and get in on
some fun!

Salmon fishing on Eastern Lake Ontario is starting! Saturday afternoon
we boated 5 king salmon and broke two more off. The brown trout,
steelhead and lake trout were biting as well. Early in the morning
we trolled for brown trout in 40-60 foot of water. Small stingers
run off the down riggers and lead core worked great. The trout were
down anywhere from 10-30 feet. In the afternoon we ran out deep
for our first try at salmon of the season. We didn't get all the
rods set and we were into our first king! In less then 4 hours fishing
we took 10 hits! Salmon, steelheads and even a lake trout made for
a fun afternoon. Our best depths were 160-200 feet fishing the riggers
down 70-90 feet.
Spoons and fly rigs both took fish but the BIG king hit a fly rig
fished off the copper run 500' back!
Oneida has been productive for night walleye fishing. Slow trolling
worms and stick baits in shallow water is still working well.

Off shore brown trout fishing has set up nicely along the eastern
shore of Lake Ontario. The bite wasn't on fire but the hits were
hard and we came up with some nice brown trout. We fished 30-40
feet of water and most hits were down 10-20 feet on natural color
stingers.
Walleye fishing on Lake Ontario has been consistent. The BIG walleyes
are there but we are working for 6-8 hit, 3-4 fish a trip. Double
digit fish are common though.:)
We hit Oneida one night this week. The walleye fishing was decent
with 30+ hits - 20+ landed and 10 or so nice 17-22'' keepers. Slow
trolling worm harnesses before dark worked well. After dark trolling
small stick baits took some really nice fish. We had a BIG one get
off at the side of the boat:(
We have plenty of openings through summer for Lake Ontario salmon
and trout charters.
The rest of this month is still prime for walleye as well. Our fall
salmon trips are booking fast- get your dates in soon!
Salmon River Guide
6/9/08
Walleye fishing slowed down some the last few days. Water temperature
along the shoreline of Lake Ontario has increased 10 degrees in
just 4-5 days- 67-68 degrees! We're still taking some really nice
double digit walleye but working hard for 7-8 hits a trip. The brown
trout moved out deeper looking for cooler waters.
Oneida Lake has been decent for lots of walleyes and small mouth
bass. Fishing deep with jigs and sonars during the day works best.
Slow trolling stick baits and worm harnesses does the trick in the
evening/night.
Water levels on the Salmon River have increased to 500 cfs and it's
scheduled to rise again-750 for a few more days-
Until 9:00 PM today, 500 CFS
From 9:00 PM today until 11:59 PM Wed, 750 CFS
6/2/08
Walleye and brown trout night fishing along the Lake Ontario shoreline
has been absolutely incredible. The weather has been tough but conditions
are ripe for trolling in the inlets of Lake Ontario. This last week
we've had 20-30 hits each night! Water temperatures have ranged
from 55-60 degrees. Winds have been mainly from the west and heavy
at times. Charters are doing a lot better by day lately. Brown trout
are in tight to shore just north of the Salmon River in very good
numbers, not many big one but decent fish none the less. A few boats
are heading out to 130-180 feet of water and finding some early
salmon and steelhead. Mostly a spoon program with riggers set 30-60'
down. Oneida lake has been turning on. Plenty of eater size walleye
along the shoreline at night. During the day they are hanging in
25-30' -jigging with sonars has been very productive. Our 2 night
walleye drift boat specials will be running in June this year- book
2 days and save $50 per night. We still have plenty of open dates
for June and July salmon, trout and walleye charter trips. Our charter
rates are the most reasonable in the area.
Salmon River Guide
5/30/08
BIG walleyes and brown trout continue to bite well along the shoreline
of Lake Ontario. The last few weeks has been very good slow trolling
stickbaits at night. Water temperatures have been ideal- 56-58 degrees.
Last night we boated 10 big brown trout and 5 nice walleyes. Day
charters fishing for brown trout are still doing so/so. One good
day then the next is tough. There's been a lot of bait along the
shore lately. A few king salmon and steelheads are starting to show
up in deeper water. We have plenty of open dates for spring &
summer walleye, salmon & brown trout trips. This Friday and
Saturday nights (May 30 &31) are still open! Our 2 night walleye
drift boat specials will be running in June this year- book 2 days
and save $50 per night.
5/22/08
Walleye fishing has been excellent. Trolling the shallows of Lake
Ontario has been producing consistent catches of BIG walleyes. The
BIG brown trout have been very hungry as well. Our best results
has been at night off the drift boat. Our day fishing on the charter
boat has been fair. 6-12 brown trout a trip with the average size
3-4#s. Oneida has been improving with better and better reports
coming in each day. The better fish are taking sonars in 20-30'
on the east end. We have plenty of open dates - Our rates are the
most reasonable in the area.
5/13/08
Lake Ontario has been producing good catches of monster walleyes.
Night trolling the shoreline has been very productive with 10-13
pounder walleyes common. Brown trout have also been cooperative
at night with most fish weighing in at 4-10 pounds. Conditions have
been ideal for working the shallows of Lake Ontario. By day charters
are doing so/so for brown trout. Trolling stickbaits @ 2.2-2.5mph
in 8-12' of water has been our go to program. There's still plenty
of dropback steelheads in the mid-lower Salmon River, night crawlers
and pink worms are the best bets. We have plenty of spring/summer
dates available for walleye, brown trout and salmon.
Give us a shout and get in on the action!
5/6/08
Salmon River water levels are dropping fast, however steelhead
fishing remains great.
Until 9:00 PM tomorrow, Wed, 500 CFS
From 9:00 PM tomorrow until 9:00 PM Thu, 335 CFS
There's still ALOT of fish dropping out. There will be steelhead
around until the end of May.
Brown trout action is decent along the Lake Ontario shoreline. We
trolled a few days ago and did great with a 10# brown topping off
the trip. Last night was my first walleye trip of the season. Although
it wasn't hot and heavy we managed a few walleyes along with a few
browns. Our first walleye of 2008 weighed in over 13 pounds! What
a way to start off the season. Shoot us call or email for booking
a spring/summer fishing trip!
4/27/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains very good. Water
levels are down to 1200cfs and expected to remain there for a few
days at least. We've been using eggs and egg pattern flies finding
fish throughout the entire Salmon River. With water temperatures
warming quickly steelheads are moving out quickly. Brown trout fishing
on Lake Ontario has been decent. The bigger brown trout are starting
to show up close to shore. Our walleye fishing starts up this Saturday.
We're offer brown trout - walleye combo charters for May and June.
Ask about our 2 day package deals. Our charters prices are the most
competitive in the area.

4/21/08
Water levels on the Salmon River are starting to recede. The power
company dropped the levels to 2400cfs. This trend will continue
unless we get some rain. I'd guess they'll have it down much lower
soon enough. Steelhead fishing has been excellent. Same old story-
egg sacks under floats and back trolling plugs are working best.
There's at least another month of steelhead fishing left. The hatchery
is still loaded they will be dropping out sometime in the next week
or so. Brown Trout fishing on Lake Ontario has been productive as
well. Walleye season opens on May 3rd. We have plenty of dates open
for spring walleye and brown trout- either from the drift boats
or off our charter boat.
Salmon River Guide
4/17/08
Steelhead fishing was very good once again. We had a lot of action
all day long using egg sacks under floats and back trolling plugs
through the bigger holes. It looks like the water levels will be
increasing even more tonight-
Until 9:00 PM today, 2,100 CFS
From 9:00 PM today until 11:59 PM Mon, 3,500 CFS
3500cfs is still fishable from a drift boat. I would think twice
about fishing from the bank though.
A lot of the smaller streams are producing decent catches of steelheads.
That is a great alternative to fishing the river.
Thanks for checking us out!
Salmon River Guide
4/16/08
Steelhead fishing was very good once again today. We fished the
upper Salmon River with egg sacks and floats. Water levels are again
on the rise tonight-
Until 9:00 PM today, 1,200 CFS
From 9:00 PM today until 11:59 PM Fri, 1,800 CFS
In the afternoon we got out on the charter boat trolling the shoreline
of Lake Ontario for brown trout. The fishing was slow but we managed
3 decent fish and missed several more.

4/15/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been pretty good lately.
Egg sacks under floats and back trolling plugs have both been effective.
Water levels have dropped again to 1200cfs. We have guides available
for this weekend. Brown trout fishing has been very good as well.
We did get our charter boat in the water this week, if anyones ready
for some great early spring brown trout fishing please give us a
call.
Salmon River Guide
4/13/08
Water levels receded to 2400cfs today at noon. It's still running
over 3200cfs at Pineville gauge and around 3800 down in Pulaski.
That is a lot more fishable then the 5600cfs they were running,
especially from a drift boat. So steelhead fishing we went! Fighting
threw a lot of debris we managed to get 10 or so bites per boat.
Back trolling plugs is always a good bet when the water is higher
then normal. Hot shots in bright colors fished in the calmest water
along the edges worked well for us. We stopped and casted floats
in a couple of spots managing a few more that way as well. I would
guess the water will gradually drop to around 1800cfs sometime this
week. With a little help from mother nature maybe they can hold
it there for while:). Give us a call. We still have guides with
availability.
Salmon River Guide
4/12/08
Water levels on the Salmon River are well over 5000 csf. It will
be a few day before steelhead fishing resumes. As water levels recede,
steelhead fishing should be very good. For now we are brown trout
fishing along the shore lines of Lake Ontario. Brown trout fishing
was very good today. Keep checking our site for the latest fishing
conditions, we will do our best to keep it updated for you.

Steelhead fishing was outstanding once again. We hit over a dozen
fish drifting egg sack under floats landing 8 or 9.
The upper Salmon River has been our section of choice with the ever
increasing water flows. Speaking of which, water levels are scheduled
to increase to 3800cfs tonight.
I guess with the rain and melting snow the water levels at the reservoir
are filled to the top. We can still fish the river after tomorrow
once the debris clears a bit. As the water gradually recedes the
steelhead fishing will be great for another month at least. The
smaller tributaries are producing plenty of steelheads, most on
the extreme upper reaches of the creeks. I also heard good reports
from friends targeting brown trout off the mouth of the Salmon River
this morning.
4/10/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River was great today. We caught
steelheads and brown trout on egg sacks, pink worms and hot shots.
Water levels are at 1800cfs (2700cfs at Pineville with runoff) and
it is scheduled to hold there until tomorrow night. Lake Ontario
is still producing good catches of brown trout along it's shoreline.
Stick baits in natural colors trolled 100-150 feet behind planer
boards at 1.8-2.2mph has been the formula to success. Give us a
call and get in on the action!
Thanks for checking us out!

The water flow on the Salmon River is going to 1800cfs tonight.
I would guess it's only going up from here at least for the next
week or so. It will be fishable though! At least from a drift boat.
Steelhead fishing has been OK. We are working for them with 7-12
hook ups a trip. Not great but not bad either.
We still have guides available for the rest of the month. I predict
really good drop back fishing into mid May at least.
The brown trout fishing on Lake Ontario has been very good. I have
talked to several trollers that hammered them this past weekend.
Our charter boat will going in the water in the next few weeks.
We're getting ready for walleye season which opens on May 3rd.
Thanks for checking us out!
4/4/08
Water levels are increasing quickly on the Salmon River. The river
is now running at 1150 cfs with runoff it is at 2000 in Pulaski.
I would guess it is going higher yet in the very near future. After
a hooking over 20 steelheads yesterday today was alot tougher. We
still manage to play with 8 - 9 fish but it's amazing what difference
a day will make! We have been fishing the upper-mid river using
eggs and pink worms. The brown trout have finally shown up in good
numbers along the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. My brother went
trolling yesterday afternoon and had close to 20 browns on in just
a few hours. We still have drift boat and charter dates available
for the rest of spring. Give us a ring and get in on some of the
action.
Thanks for checking us out!

4/1/08
Water levels on the Salmon River have gone up to 750cfs and will
be increasing even more soon enough. Steelhead fishing has been
good for the last 6-7 days straight- 10-15 hook-ups a day at least.
We have been getting into some really decent size steelheads. Some
steelheads have been fresh, some spawning and even a few post spawn
fish thrown in each trip. The mid-lower Salmon River has been where
we've been concentrating but I have also heard good reports from
the upper river as well as various tribs. Egg sacs and pink worms
under floats have been doing most the damage. Brown trout are starting
to show up along the lake shore but water temps are still very cold.
With conditions changing quickly we'll do our best to keep the reports
updated more often.
We still have a few dates open over the next month- 4/2,4/8,4/9,4/30-
If these dates don't work we have several very good guides that
have more availability, give us a call and we will set you up. We
also offer spring/summer walleye, brown trout and salmon charters
on Lake Ontario.
Thanks for checking us out!

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains decent/good some
days and tough the next.
We've been fishing all over the river and the results seem to be
the same. Egg sacks and egg pattern flies in natural colors have
been working best. The water levels have dropped to 400cfs but I
would bet with warming conditions this will increase very soon.
We still have a few dates open over the next month-3/29,3/31,4/1,4/2,4/8,4/9,4/30-
If none of these dates work we have several very good guides that
have more availability, give us a call and we will set you up. We
also offer spring/summer walleye, brown trout and salmon charters
on Lake Ontario.

3/8/08
Steelhead fishing remains just ''OK'' to decent most days with
a few really good days each week. Really the only thing that has
changed is the increased flows. The Salmon River has increased to
1150cfs with run off it's at 1530 according to the Pineville gauge-http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?04250200
I would expect this trend to continue gradually through the next
month. We still have dates open for the next few months of prime
steelhead time. Steelhead fishing remains good through mid May.
We run a 19' heated drift boat for your comfort and safety. We also
have plenty of summer charter dates open. In June & July we
offer 2 day specials on brown trout and king salmon trips trolling
on Lake Ontario.

2/27/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been OK one day - great
the next. Just about the same as the last report. We have been getting
into some bruts, with a few big steelheads in the mid teens. The
water level on the Salmon River is at 900 CFS and will remain there
till at least Friday midnight. Egg sacks and pink worms under floats
has been doing well. Yesterday we actually did very good bottom
bouncing sacks. The fish are spread throughout the entire river
with more fresh fish moving up each day.

2/15/08
Steelhead action on the Salmon River has been up and down the last
few weeks. Weather has played the biggest factor lately. The nicer
the weather the better the fishing has been. Today we found a few
fresher chrome fish, which is always a good sign. The Salmon River
has dropped to 750cfs. The weather is going to continue to be back
and forth the next week or so. March, April and May dates are still
available but filling up quickly. We still have plenty of open dates
for summer salmon charters out on Lake Ontario.
Thanks,
Salmon River Guide
2/5/08
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has slowed up a bit. We're
still hitting 8-10 a trip. Still not bad but not as good as it was.
There's definitely some big bruisers in right now, we've had chances
at several the last few trips. The weather has been tough at best.
Water levels are increasing to 1800cfs- this should help us out
some. We have plenty of dates open this winter/spring for drift
boat fishing steelheads. We also have a lot of summer dates available
for charter boat fishing on Lake Ontario for salmon, trout and walleyes
check out our site - www.fishingcharterslakeontario.com.

Salmon River steelhead fishing has been VERY good. I know it sounds
like a repeat of the last few reports but just when you think it
can not get better - guess what? It gets better! This weekend was
ON FIRE!. We centerpinned fished with fresh egg sacs in the mid
to lower river. Bank access is tough with a lot of snow and ice
to contend with. This makes it easy pickens for drift boats. Light
pressure equals excellent fishing and EXCELLENT it was! We hit 3-5
fish at almost every stop, losing count of total hook-ups but we
were well over 30 just Saturday. Today we hit 1/2 that many in 1/2
a day. Most the the steelhead were average size but we did manage
to tangle with several bruiser each day. The amount of steelhead
in the river is incredible. Reports were good from up and down the
river. Water levels are a tad low- 500cfs. With warming weather
heading our way I would guess this will gradually increase with
run off. We have plenty of dates available through Spring. If I
am booked I do have several other very good guides to hook you up
with. I also offer charter fishing on Lake Ontario for Salmon, brown
trout, steelhead and walleye.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been fantastic- reports
are good up and down on the Salmon River. Water levels have receded
back to medium/low levels. 750cfs right now and going to 500cfs
for this weekend. A lot of bigger size chrome fresh steelheads have
been giving us a run for our money.
We still have plenty of openings for the rest of winter and spring
drift boat steelheading. We also offer spring/summer charters for
brown trout, salmon and walleyes. Give us a ring and get in on some
action.

Water levels on the Salmon River have increased drastically.
Until 11:59 PM Wed JAN 16, 2,000 CFS
The steelhead fishing remains very good.

Steelhead fishing is still going very well. Reports have been good
from the top to the bottom of the Salmon River.
We've been floating the upper-mid Salmon River and finding action
at most stops. There's been a good mix of fresh fish and darker
more colorful fish. Egg sacks under floats have been doing the best.
Water levels are running decent, 500cfs plus some run off. I would
expect levels to increase with warming weather and melting snow.
We still have plenty of winter/spring steelhead dates available.
We also offer Spring/Summer brown trout/salmon charters on Lake
Ontario.

Drift boat fishing the Salmon River for steelheads remains excellent.
The last 3 days we averaged 15-20 hook-ups landing 10-15 each trip.
Egg sacks under floats have been the best medicine. We have been
floating the entire Salmon River finding a few here - few there
and every now and then hitting the jackpot. Water levels have increased
with rain and snow runoff to 1150cfs at the dam and 1400+ at the
Pineville gauge. Great for boaters but tougher on bank anglers.
We have plenty of dates open though winter and spring. Give us a
call and set up your steelhead fishing adventure.
Thanks for checking us out in 2007 and making our year a fantastic
success!
Looking forward to another GREAT year for 2008.
Have a happy and safe NEW YEAR!
11/19/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been excellent. Cold
miserable weather has been the biggest obstacle for Salmon River
steelheaders. The water levels are low -335cfs and will remain there
unless we get a thaw or some rain. The river has been slushy in
the mornings and shelf ice has become a issue for bank anglers.
A fresh batch of silver steelhead have been steadily moving through
the lower to mid river, as well as plenty of colored up fish further
up river. A few decent brown trout have been lurking around as well.
Our drift boat is extra big and heated for your comfort and safety.
We still have plenty of winter/spring dates available along with
spring/summer Lake Ontario charters. Looking for that perfect Christmas

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains productive. Steelhead
have been scattered throughout the entire Salmon River. We have
been fishing upper-mid river and have had decent luck. A few other
guides I've talked with have said the lower river has been good
as well.
Float fishing the bigger holes has been the most productive. The
fish are starting to move into there winter holding spots more and
more with the cooler weather. Water levels are at a wide 750cfs
(Until 11:59 PM Fri NOV 30, 750 CFS) and I would guess it is going
to remain there for some time.
We have plenty of dates open in December and through the winter.
Drift boat trips make for GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFTS! Gift certificates
are available.
11/16/07
Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River remains productive. Not as
hot and heavy as last week but still pretty good even after a very
busy Veterans day weekend. Float fishing egg sacks, pink worms and
trout beads has been working equally well. The Salmon River has
been producing some really nice steelheads already this fall. The
last few days we have fished mid-lower river and have found cooperative
fish at 3/4 of our stops. From reports on the upper river, LFZ and
DSR it sounds like it has been decent all over. Water levels are
at 500cfs and are scheduled to increase on Sunday night.
We still have plenty of dates for December and the rest of winter/spring
steelhead fishing. Give us a call and get your dates booked for
a fun fishing adventure.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River has been GREAT! There's plenty
of steelheads up and down the river. We've been drift boating the
upper river and have had great luck lately. Bottom bouncing and
float fishing egg sacks, trout beads and egg imitation flies have
all worked for us. Water levels are good -500cfs (Until 11:59 PM
Tue NOV 13, 500 CFS). There has been some really big steelheads
being taken. We still have a lot of winter dates available. The
winter fishing has been better and better the last 2 seasons. I'd
expect the trend to continue. We have one of the largest HEATED
drift boats on the Salmon River and we'll use our guiding experience
to put you on the trophy fish of a life time!
10/28/07
Water levels on the Salmon River have returned to normal over the
week-750cfs. With the better flows drift boating has resumed once
again. Plenty of fresh steelhead are running in the Salmon River
and even a few decent looking kings around ad well. The fluctuating
water has flushed a lot of leaves and debris down the river making
fishing tough at times. The smaller tribs have been producing salmon
and a few trout but the waters been really high one day the dropping
quickly and low a day or two later. we still have a few Oct/Nov
dates open- 10/30,10/31,11/1,11/7,11/19,11/28,11/29-plenty more
dates open in Dec and throughout the winter/spring-If you would
like to book a trip on dates that I am not available we have several
very good full time guides working for us that we can set you up
with.

The salmon fishing out on Lake Ontario has gone down hill fast
this week. A lot of rain has fallen over the last 6-7 days provoking
the majority of kings to finally make their journey up river. The
big problem now is there is not enough water to float the river
in the drift boats:(. Basically we are left with few options. Bank
fishing the Salmon River has been productive but a bit crowded.
Oswego and the Black Rivers are floatable but the water has been
fluctuating a lot making it inconsistent fishing wise. Let's keep
our fingers crossed we keep getting rain - it is forecasted to continue
on and off the next 5-6 days. With a bit of luck the water levels
will increase enough to start floating.
Thanks,
Salmon River Guide
10/8/07
Salmon fishing continues to be productive off the mouth of the
Salmon River. There's still plenty of kings holding up out in front
of the river. The best fishing has been just after dark and just
before dawn. Trolling and casting glow spoons/plugs has been doing
the most damage. The Salmon River remains very low- 100cfs. There
are steady movements of fish through the lower river. Under low
water conditions the bottom end is usually the best bet. The DSR
has been very consistent this season. Rain is in the forecast -
let's hope and pray we get some heavy down pours to increase the
flows. We still have guides available this month for bank trips
or river mouth trips.
Steelhead season is coming fast, the last two season were outstanding.
We run trips from late October through mid May- YES all winter we
are catching steelheads from the Salmon River out of our 19' deluxe
HEATED Fish Rite drift boat. We offer center pinning, fly fishing,
spin fishing and back trolling lures from fall until spring. Give
us a call and get your fall/winter/spring steelhead trip booked
now.

The lake fishing remains excellent. Day or night drift boats and
charters are catching plenty of salmon along the lake shore just
off the mouth of the Salmon River. The Salmon River estuary is still
holding decent numbers of king and cohos. Although it has been crowded
the action has been pretty decent. NOW for the big news- despite
low water conditions some good runs of salmon have decided to start
their way up the Salmon River. The last few days has seen good waves
of kings moving through the lower/mid river from the DSR to Pineville
We have been getting steady rain since Wednesday night although
today had been dry again. It will take quite a bit more to increase
the flows back to normal. Hopefully we will be getting a bit more
towards the end of next week. But the fish are in! Be careful when
catching steelheads and cohos- they do look similar. Your only aloud
1 steelhead over 21''s so please don't mistake them for cohos- Cohos
will have a gray/blackish tint just inside their mouths- steelheads
are longer and slender with totally white mouths- Please try to
release all trout for future fishing. Steelheads do not die like
salmon after the spawn so releasing them will result in better fishing
for years to come! Thanks for the consideration. Thanks checking
us out! Our season has been going great! Looking forward to steelhead
fishing coming up in late October.
Thanks,
Salmon River Guide
9/26/07
Salmon fishing at the Salmon River river mouth has been great.
Night trolling with glow spoons off the drift boats has been by
far the most productive way to take king salmon. Lake charters are
also having decent catches by day especially when the lake is a
bit choppy and there is some over cast. The river remains low and
even with rain last night and coming in for the next few days I
would not expect much change. The reservoir is very low and we will
need a lot of rain to make a difference. First light in the lower
river has been decent with mainly cohos moving through. A few kings,
brown trout and steelhead are also coming up the Salmon River just
not good numbers just yet. All the drift boat fishing will be done
at the mouth or in the estuary of the Salmon River until there is
enough water to float down the river. If you would like a guide
for the river then a bank guide is the only option. We do bank trips
and have several very knowledgeable guides for fly and spin fishing
off the bank. We also have guides that will take you to the DSR
on the lower river where the fishing has been the most productive.
