Updated Fishing Reports - Salmon River, Pulaski Ny
August 26, 2010
Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has drastically improved the last
few days. King and coho salmon are showing up in front of the salmon
in 60' in much better numbers since mid week. The usual green/white
glow attractor fly combos run off dipsies and riggers have been
working well. We still have a few dates for morning charters open
over the next few weeks along with a lot of afternoons including
this Saturday. A few salmon have entered the Salmon River but it's
way early. Just a small number of kings have been reported.

Salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been decent over the last week
with the exception of today. We were hitting 5 -7 kings and cohos
a trip. The fish were in 60-100' of water and hitting 50-90' down
on the usual attractor - fly combos mostly in green and white. Today
the off shore wind brought temps way up -25' down temp was in the
mid 50s. Only a few salmon were hitting. Water level on the Salmon
River will be going up to 1800cfs tonight due 4+ inches of rain
over the last few days. Hopefully this will bring more fish to this
end of the lake.

Ontario. More an more king salmon are heading east to stage off
the Salmon River. The fall migration is right around the corner
and the fish will be stacking up in front of the river. Salmon are
being taken in 150-160' of water. Spin drs and flies off the dipsys
and down riggers have been work well run out 250-300' on dipsies,
110-130' off riggers. Trout fishing has slowed some but is still
OK. We still have a lot of dates left for the next month of charter

Salmon are starting to show up on the eastern end of Lake Ontario
off the Salmon River. Most charter boats out of the Salmon River
got into some king salmon today. Brown trout are still around in
good numbers as well. Each day should show better numbers of salmon
moving closer to Salmon River. Most kings were taken from 100-120
feet down over 110-150'. Michigan Stinger spoons and dodger fly
combos were taking fish equally well. We still have a lot of dates
open this month - email or call for hot salmon action!

Brown trout fishing on Lake Ontario has been great. Salmon fishing
has been sub par. We've been trolling for the trout in 90-120' taking
fish on Michigan Stingers. The few salmon that have been around
are in 140-160'- fly/spin dr combos are working best. We have plenty
of open dates for August and September. Salmon fishing will be heating
up very soon.
Thanks for checking us out!

Brown trout fishing has been very good on Lake Ontario charters
the last few days.
Lots of action for 4-8 pound trout. The trout are hitting Michigan
Stingers in 70-100' - 60-70' down off the downriggers. The salmon
are hitting but it's not on fire just yet. I would expect the king
salmon to show up in better numbers over the next few weeks. Walleye
fishing on Oneida Lake has been OK. Slow drifting/trolling worms
spinners in 25-35' has been producing decent catches of 16-20 inchers.
We have plenty of open dates for the rest of July. August is filling
up for salmon charters so get ahold of us soon!

Trout & salmon fishing on Lake Ontario has been heating up
the last few weeks.
Charters are catching brown trout, steelhead and king salmon off
Oswego to the Salmon River over deep water. The bait has been heavy
all season that should help keep the big predators in our area.
We have plenty of dates open for summer charters. We offer very
reasonable rates and our 2 day package deals are the best deal in
town. Fall salmon dates are filling in fast- book it now!

Over all it has been a good walleye season on Lake Ontario. Lots
of BIG walleyes were taken throughout May. This last week has slowed
down a lot on Lake Ontario but we have been going to Oneida lake
as a plan B. I like plan B! It's been ON FIRE walleye fishing on
Oneida Lake the last few nights. Slow trolling worms/spinners during
the day and lure at night has been producing good catches of 15-20''
walleye. Small mouth and white bass have been plentiful as well.
Charters out on Lake Ontario have been taking lake trout. Brown
trout and salmon fishing has been tough so lake trout have been
picking up the slack. Again it's always nice to have a plan B! The
lake has been setting up a thermocline- I'd bet trout and salmon
fishing will improve very soon. .

Trolling for walleye on the Lake Ontario shoreline has been pretty
good so far this season. A few nights were tough due to strong winds
making it next to impossible to even fish.
The brown trout fishing remains decent for charters during the day.
A few salmon are being taken out deeper as well. There were some
impressive results in the Spring LOC derby- two 32 pound +Kings,
12 pound + Walleye, 27 pound Laker, 16 pound + Brown Trout- I would
say the good old days are back! I would expect to see 40 pounds
in the fall LOC.

Walleye fishing on Lake Ontario has been very good. Slow trolling
stickbaits along the lake shore produced steady action. A few trout
thrown in each night along with several double digit walleyes pushing
13#s. We have plenty of guides open for night walleye fishing. We
fish Lake Ontario for trophy walleye and Oneida Lake for smaller
eater size fish.

Steelhead season is officially over for this guide. Over all the
steelhead season was excellent. The last month was tough due to
low flows in the Salmon River.
Well now it's lake charter time! Right now brown trout and walleye
fishing has begun. So far we have been trolling the eastern shore
of lake Ontario for brown trout. It has been decent with some quality
size trout coming to the boat. Reports have been good for night
walleye fishing along the lake shore as well. Oneida has been slow
for walleyes but that's typical for the beginning of the season.
We will be out tonight for the my first Lake Ontario walleye trip
of the season. I will be updating a lot more often as the season
progresses. The charter boat is going in the water this week so
we will be ready for deep water salmon fishing very soon. There
have been reports of decent catches of king salmon already!
Thanks for checking us out!
